Hi y’all, I work at a tiny cafe but last week the high volume drive had a positive covid case, so basically 75% of my store went to work there while half their staff was quarantined. One of their partners that was working last week got tested Tuesday and a positive test on Saturday after we had all worked with her all week. Bummer right? The store shut down AGAIN and my store had to self isolate. Moving on
My new and incompetent store manager tried to make everybody come back before the 14 days ended. She had us all on the schedule 8-10 days after the start of self isolation and not 2 weeks. She was adamant and told myself and other partners that it was 2 weeks from the test day of the other partner???? Not even the positive test just the day which is a absolutely untrue. We all called the PCC and got the correct info and some of us told her we would come back 2 weeks after the exposure when isolation ends. She the. Back tracked and fixed everyone’s schedules to reflect that and made an excuse that the “DM got the date wrong” but my SM refused to acknowledge she was wrong.
My store is in this situation because the other partner from the DT came back early from 2 week isolation thinking she was fine, yet my boss was pushing for us all to come back early so we can resume normal hours. Call the PCC and make sure you’re in the know. Talk to shifts and other baristas if you’re having issues. And remember that even though sometimes we feel powerless and easily replaceable an entire store can band together to make sure the right thing happens.
