There are 2 very specific types of people. Those who say they’re using points before they order in the drive, and those who tell you they want to use points after you charge their card. There is no in between.

I never scan payment, and I train my baristas to scan first then offer the ability to use rewards. Be proactive and take the guesswork out of the question.

And there’s me, who says I want to use my reward, starts to scan before I quickly pull my phone back and confirm they heard I wanted to use my reward, and then scan.

Ugh sorry here I’m just a customer.. I always tell them I’m using pints after I ordered and before I pay... what’s the proper etiquette?? I’m happy to comply just never knew.. obviously saying something g after paying is ridiculous..

If it looks like they’re holding a phone with the app open I usually scan before ringing and ask. Good customers will ask to use a reward. You will still get people who ask after you scan their phone and ring the transaction no matter what so don’t feel bad if it happens.
It’s always better to be cautious imo. You can always void and rering the order if you don’t use points. If you do use points they’re just gone as there’s no way to refund them currently

Lol, FACTS. If they tell me after i scan and there was enough money to cover it, I just say i used their points. They can use them next time

oh man, i do this too and an older woman didn’t like that apparently. she made us refund her order and re-ring her up just so she could use 50 stars to get a tall black pike for free even though her order was like $35. the fact that my SM made me do it still makes my head spin
