So I recently came out as non binary, and have asked my coworkers to address me by a new name (which is just a shortened version of my birth name). All my partners have been really good about using my name and pronouns, but my SM doesn’t seem to get it. I tried to let it go for a while, thinking she’d catch on by herself. After a few days of her not correcting herself, I gently reminded her about my new name. She hits me with the “it’s so hard tho...” excuse, and trust me. I understand. It’s an adjustment. But my other partners have been seamless with the new name game. SM just keeps deadnaming me for the next few shifts.
Days later, after a very difficult rush, she deadnames me again when she tells me to take my break. I bluntly state my name is ****** and leave for my 10.
She rushes to the back and screams about how disrespectful it was for me to humiliate her in front of customers and other partners. She says it’s hard for her to adjust, but my name is on my fucking name tag. I’m tired of this and tired of her. I cried the full break. I can’t talk to anyone about it. The last time I called ethics about a separate issue regarding my boss, they directed me to the DM, who also hates me.
