Next time let them know you’re going to the hospital. This is a “I’m not asking, I’m telling you” scenario. Starbucks will not hesitate to replace you. You should always put yourself first before the company you work for. . You only live once, so please don’t work through incredible pain or worse die for this company.

Second this. You first. Always. This company is worth around 3 billion, and we are literally stepping stones for them. One falls out of place, just get another one. You over work, always.

I know it would mean the team would struggle, but your health is more important.

That’s awful i have same medical issue and suffered spasms and nerve pain and can’t leave because no one can cover

I’m pretty sure it’s illegal for a job to REQUIRE you to find coverage for yourself or even ask questions when it come to calling out sick. It may be different for your state, but Starbucks has that stupid policy that says you have to try and find coverage, it’s stoopid and if anyone does it again say “I am not in a position to do so”
Your health is more important than the shifts falling behind on someone the daily tasks

You pointed it out yourself. Not a Starbucks issue, it’s a staffing and culture issue. You need to go to the hospital and not open? Go. You don’t need a medical note for a medical call out even.

If you’re sick and call out, it’s actually the shift on duty’s job to find coverage for you. It’s in the employee handbook. I had an ovarian cyst pop (something people typically go to a hospital for) and I called out of work 5 hours before a mid 5 hour shift and my manager told me to find coverage or come in, when it was her job to find me coverage.

I feel you. I have to wake up at 3:30 to be at work at 4:15 tomorrow. I can never call out or find coverage. And I have to be there or we can open, as if that's my responsibility, I'm not a shift or a manager.
