Tips for customers to be better? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by tawebber1
Hi, I order lattes for my wife and I all the time. I just found this forum. How can I be better at ordering my drinks and being a better customer?

If you’re asking this at all, then I’m sure you’re lovely to serve. ❤️

One important one is *listen to the Barista who takes your order*.

Starbucks actually has *very* specific language for ordering drinks and entering them into the computer, but customers are so bad at remembering how to order their drinks that the staff usually just learn what you want and make it for you.

This has the downside that a lot of customers don't even realize that what they're *actually* asking for doesn't even exist, and the pink 12 syrup abomination that they're requesting is *not* named a "rory gilmore".

So, when you get your order, look at the ticket.

When the barista reads your order back, listen to what they say, and try to order it that way the next time.

It'll make your life easier, the barista's life easier, and best of all it means that you can order the same drink at any store.

Is a venti skinny vanilla latte, decaf, hot, 2% simple?
Resolution_Spare 5 points 2y ago
2% is standard so that’s a really simple drink. No worries. 👍🏻

yes that’s simple, 2% milk? kinda defeats the purpose cause at that point it’s just a regular decaf late with sugar free vanilla

Just say “decaf skinny vanilla latte”, quick and simple!

As a former barista all I can say is order it as a “Venti hot decaf latte, add sugar free vanilla syrup”. That way they automatically know you want 2%
