and now I’m doing things like prepping inclusions and vanilla bean, matcha, frapp chips and make whip cream and vanilla sweet cream but I keep forgetting how to date them or I don’t know how to make them. a part of me is afraid to ask them because i feel like I should know it

gosh i feel you. for the first half of my three years at starbucks (and honestly even now at times) i felt like i was always asking questions about dating things etc. i personally struggled the most though with remembering drinks. even at my two year mark i was so embarrassed and would ask to not be put on bar because i just couldn't do it. it took time, and working a lot, for everything to sort of become natural and i STILL ask questions if i'm not sure. you may feel ashamed or embarrassed because you can't remember things but it takes time, trust me i know. don't give up just yet though!! i also have coworkers who have been working much longer than me that ask me questions about dating things ha. also like starbucks keeps changing their recipes so its like bro....

not sure if this is useful but i kept like an index card in my apron with like drink recipe hacks (like shot counts etc) as well as a list how how to date things and like how to make whip. this was really handy when i closed :))

YOU GOT THIS, I BELIEVE IN YOU

Your team shouldn't make you feel bad for forgetting, we all forgot these things all the time! We have a lot of things to remember. My store has a laminated sheet with all the dating standards that we keep taped on the inside of our backstock cabinet- perhaps you can ask to get one?
Here is a few tricks I use-
"Fruity 5, everything else is 7" (inclusions are good for 5 days, matcha/Java chip/vanilla bean etc is 7 days.)
Thick sauces (caramel, white mocha, seasonal thick sauces) and good for 14 days
Thinner sauces (frappuccino roast, chai, mocha) is 24 hours.

Please don't be afraid to ask, and if someone is mean about it, then ask someone else. If your whole team is mean about it, then they need to humble themselves and remember we were all green beans once.
Ask until you remember.
I still ask how good chai is for because for some reason my brain cannot retain that information.

Yes this!

Literally just the other day, manager and I were having a conversation because I haven't worked all week & was asking her what the Irish Creme recipe is, and she was saying, "You know, (incorrect number of pumps) just like the Pumpkin Cream!" and I was like "????pumpkin cream doesn't get (incorrect #)" So then I checked on the recipe cards for both drinks & updated her! She's been with Starbucks for over 7 years and I've been here for a few months, and we were both lost on the same recipe! It happens!

7 days for vanilla bean, matcha, frap chips. Refresher inclusions are 5. Whips are 24 hours. Do ask though. We all forget things sometimes!
