Is this worth going to ethics and compliance over? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by roxylablonduh
So my last day is actually wednesday. I only made it 4 months, partly because they're not taking covid seriously in my area and I've had people not wearing masks literally tell me they have covid in the drive.

The bigger issue I have is with management. My first few weeks, there were a couple of days where I straight up didn't get my 30s. It would take some digging but I'd be able to find the shifts. I almost never get my 10s, regardless of if I ask for them or not. Within my first month I got a repetitive motion injury from the job, was on workers comp, and they were still pushing me even though I was in documented pain. I've been so conflicted about leaving, but at the end of the day I'm so happy I'll be gone. I liked the job. I didn't like how I was treated. I was in physical pain and I wasn't getting breaks, so of course I wasn't in a great mood. They told me to just work through it. Is this something that I even CAN go to ethics and compliance about? 2910\*\*\* signing off.

Yes, and I encourage you to. Especially regarding your motion injury. Having repeated documentation and other incidence reports on it will help. I got injured at a previous job and made sure to go to the doctor/repeatedly report my injury so they had good documentation, and that helped me to get a small disability check every month. If the situation escalates, you’ll be glad you have that base documentation to start with.

It could also potentially help other partners in your store that don’t get their required breaks, because they might open an investigation and start enforcing it.

my case manager for workers comp wouldn't respond to my emails or approve my trips to the doctor so fun times ya know. It's just rough knowing I only have two days left.

Yeah I get that, and it probably almost seems fruitless at this point since you have so little time left. but you could probably report it to ethics and that could help escalate it. I’m not really sure how it works at Starbucks though but I wish you luck!

Rather than ethics and compliance look into local and state labor boards. Generally useless but ethics and compliance is even more useless (internal Starbucks review that only serves to cover up and retaliate)

I love this idea, thank you. I have had other companies hr do some shitty things to me.

My understanding is they’ll close out your case once you leave the company. But at least there will be a record in case anyone else complains in the future.
