I’m a fairly new green bean who doesn’t drink coffee and has only tried like three drinks so far. When people ask for a surprise drink that has to be a frappachino, i’ll just press whatever/what other people ordered that day and move on, only to receive a glare after they get handed the drink like??? you gave me full control and i happen to not know what modifications taste good together so just take your caramel ribbon crunch and order exactly what you want next time if you don’t like disappointing surprises pleaseeee

Yep. If you want to have a conversation with me about your drink, I’m more than happy to help you figure out new flavor combinations you might like. But if you just say “Surprise Me”, I’m hitting a random button on the POS.

dear god I laughed way too hard on that. I should've done that before I left. I get like 3 or 4 surprise me drinks and whenever that shit happens, it's up to the bartender(at least at my starbucks that's how it went). And that shit sucks when it's rush hour and bartender just trying to meet the demands on time.

One time some teens came through the drive thru asking for surprise me drinks and we gave them black pike places and they looked so confused that they weren’t cold drinks 😂

normally i always ask if they want iced/hot, coffee based/fruity, and how they are with caffeine. for kids i do a blended strawberry lemonade and for everyone else i do a double shot on ice or a hazelnut mocha :)

We have this often at another popular store, apparently the manager there is really funny and witty.
I covered for two days, everyone got Americano's for hot drinks, iced Americano's for cold & Coffee Frappucinios if they wanted a frap.

Usually the “model” I follow when trying to help someone decide what to order. It also helps to ask what they might normally get such as if their usual order is a mocha maybe suggest a salted caramel mocha, since it’s similar they maybe slightly more likely to really enjoy it. Or try suggesting blonde espresso, I LOVE blonde and I don’t feel like enough people know about it. I know surprise drinks are annoying but i hope this helps a little.

I would be happy with a Ice water. Starbucks Ice water hits different lol. I would surprise them with a simple coffee Frappuccino. No add ins just the basic. If you want to look like you tried add whip or drizzle. And move it along lol
