what can corporate do? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by kokiichiouma
hi there, new to the subreddit. im fairly new to the job, been working since the end of september. during the month of november, my store was extremely understaffed. well, at least the night crew was. three people had just left, 5 were out for having covid/being in contact with someone with covid, manager hired two people and instead of scheduling more people or finding coverage left our schedule the same, leaving us understaffed. we only got all 5 back last week, manager never shut us down for sanitization, one of the newbies has called out sick every day since his training ended, and he still continues to leave night shift understaffed. today he announced to mids that he is retiring and will be gone by the end of january. night crew has been discussing reporting him to corporate for a while now, but is it even worth it at this point? thanks.

Not worth it. They’ll be long gone.

If your manager is already on their way out, it’s mostly that there is little, if anything, corporate can or will do.

Your complaints would first go to your DM, who would connect with your manager to correct staffing issues. Then you’d have to give your manager an opportunity to show that they’ve changed, or provide additional proof that they hadn’t. At that point your RM would most likely be brought in and so on and so forth. By the time anything of significance was accomplished, your manager would be a long time retired.
