Help! I’m quitting but I don’t want to work the remaining hours... (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by anonwannab
I’ve been off of work since 11/10 Bc I got an opportunity to work in my career field. However, the job was on a contract for a month but got extended for another week.
My concern here is I’m quoting Starbucks with or without a possibility of a job but I’m scheduled to work the week of 21st(giving my 2weeks tomorrow). I don’t want to work my remaining hours Bc this place is so depressing and I don’t get paid enough for the work I do. How can I get out of it without getting people to cover my shift? Also, let me add that 2 people tested positive and 12 are on isolation so everything is pretty hectic already and I don’t feel safe at all.

Giving 2 weeks is a courtesy, not a necessity. If you don’t NEED the reference, just call in to quit at the end of your shift

We got a new manager 2 days after I left.. so I don’t need his reference. I barely worked with him. Lol

Yeah, you don’t need to give two weeks notice. Let them know you are quitting, so you don’t get a million calls, but you’re good, you’re done

Call in sick. Sick hours don’t get paid out but vacation hours do

I would say put in the two weeks then use any vacation time you have on the days you’re scheduled to work so that you still get paid for those days

Your vacation gets paid out when you quit, regardless of if you give notice or not.

Oh really?

Mmhm. Sick time is use it or lose it, vacation gets paid out.

The best thing you could do is work your two weeks. It sucks but you’ll have an end in sight, and really don’t even have to worry about how productive you are. If you can’t bring yourself to that, try to see if others can cover your shifts. There are always partners looking for more money/hours, maybe from a different store though. If not that talk to your SM. They may be ok with a shortened notice of like a week or through Sunday.

Do not give 0 notice and just quit. That does absolute fucking hell fire and destruction to a schedule, and will just piss off your fellow employees. References are important. Being rehire-able is important. I highly recommend the 2 weeks. It’s just 2 weeks then boom, over.

It’s already hell tho. There’s 12 people on isolation. 2 other Starbucks just closed down Bc partners allegedly tested positive. So at this point, I can’t get my self to go work there for my own mental sanity.
