Working in different states?? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by dwightlover9
Hey guys! My husband is in the military and I was wondering, if and when my husband deploys, would I be able to go to my home state and work at a store there? Is that allowed, can it be denied or what is the protocol for situations like that? As well as just doing that in general, if I want to go home for a few weeks/months but obviously still work. Is that something that we are able to do or what are the rules there?

Edit: I have mentioned the whole deployment thing to my store manager and she seemed like she was put off by the idea. I had spoke to my husband about him deploying and I wouldn’t wanna just be alone, that I would wanna go home to be with my family while he is gone.

It’s very rare that you will be able to find two managers who will be willing to transfer you back and forth between where you live and your home state on a weekly / monthly basis. Typically, you can transfer once every six months, unless there’s an emergency.

You can transfer back to your home state if that’s where you want to be while your husband is deployed and then transfer back once he’s done or you’re ready to go home. But there’s no guarantee that you would be able to return to the store you’re at now once you came back.
