It’s Official— a rant (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by InternationalSector3
Starbucks officially broke me. After busting my ass for months, staying late, covering shifts, working doubles, and going above and beyond what I’m supposed to do as a barista and doing shift responsibilities, my manager and my shift (who thinks he’s the lead shift and better than everyone) are treating me like shit because of my health problems caused by working so much without taking time off. My store manager has been insanely absent the past few months but acts like she knows what the store needs and I’ve been there almost every day and seen what changes need to be made. I literally have stomach ulcers from stress that hurts so bad and all they can do is talk shit about me behind my back and fuck over my schedule and hours. At this point I’m just deciding whether or not to put in my two weeks. Where’s the human decency?

I'm sorry you have to work for Starbucks at a time like this. My store was wonderful but many are not having the experience I did before the pandemic. The president of the company lied to us. Partners are not properly being protected from covid, nor are they being shown the respect they deserve for providing a non essential service during a global pandemic.

Go to your DM. If you have paid sick days which you should because they made you work so much take them. Just keep complaining until the DM does something about it because they are not treating you right.

Tbh just transfer, finding a job is super hard right now and if anything you can start job searching when you get out of the toxic store. Also never go above and beyond for a store unless they do the same for you, ALWAYS put in that same energy or else that’s when they start to use you. Use the excuse “it’s closer to where i’m moving” or “it’s closer to my place anyways” bc then you pull the financial card and they can’t decline it. Or just use no excuse and wait until they ask. Be patient, and more than likely your transfer will go through (i’ve transferred twice and as long as u play it off as it’s just your choice and no one here is harassing you then you’ll just be moved, but if you say so and so are talking shit then they will get people involved, it’s just best to say it’s closer to where you’re living or moving to or closer to your second job or daycare or ANYTHING it’s okay to lie in this instance).

I've learned from being with starbucks for 3.5 years that each store is it's own little country and government. There are places that are run like a dictatorship while others are more... better.

My advice is that if you are not egotistical enough and fake a smile all the time then you will not get ahead in this company.

Leave this place and never look back. There are much better places to go and they will pay better. good luck!
