What qualifies as close contact for covid?(self.starbucksbaristas)

A manager at my store just received a call that they were in contact with someone two times in the past 2 weeks that just tested positive for covid. I watched the whole thing play out and eventually it came up that masks were worn but I'm not sure what the truth is bc everyone seems to be afraid of getting in trouble. They were told by my the SM they can stay because it didn't qualify as "close contact" so I decided to go home because I live with 2 at risk parents. I felt shamed for leaving and my SM said that its equivalent to passing by someone in the grocery store and if we shut down we lose money or something. Its also a snowstorm today so not many people came in and another manager was saying that they "can't in good conscience" leave the possibly infected person at the store alone. I feel like i'm being treated like a crazy person for questioning the ethics of the situation and i'm waiting on a call back from my DM. I'm thinking about transferring or going on leave because I don't understand why this person wouldn't go home and get tested. I really like this job and i'm really upset at the way this is being handled. I feel like I was being told that the store was more important than my families health and I don't know what to do

> Close contact is defined by CDC as someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic clients, 2 days prior to positive specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.
Without knowing the specific conditions of their contact with the positive person, there’s a chance that they could have been in contact them in a way that wouldn’t require them to self-isolate.

That's some serious BS. If the health department contact tracers are calling you to say you were in close contact with a positive case then you should quarantine. How an SM or DM thinks it's ok to ignore that is a clear ethical violation, and potentially also a legal one. I would make contact the DM and partner resources ASAP to make it known that this is going on and it isn't ok. I might also follow up with a call to the health department to make sure they know that your SM is ignoring the advice of the contact tracers.

I'm taking a LOA. I don't really feel like fighting with them and It seems like they aren't going to budge so I'm just going to step back for a month.

Smart choice. Your health is more important.

So, if person A was with person B for 15 minutes 9 days ago and person B tested positive on day 9 (had symptoms on day 7), that's not considered as close contact for person A?
