this lady just came through our dt and ordered a matcha latte... and then mumbles a whole bunch more stuff so we asked her to repeat herself multiple times until we understood. she then pulls around and her card declines about 6 times and she tells us to keep trying,, eventually it goes through. then she asks us to take the stopper out of her drink. my shift (who was on dt) said she's not supposed to due to covid but she would anyway. this lady continues to ask her completely seriously "what is covid?" and we were all SHOCKED. we explained that it's a disease and she asked when it started. we said march and then she asked how it got here and where it came from and we told her that it must've spread and it started in china. she looked so shocked and confused. what is happening. where has she been the past year??

In 2018, it was like mid-July, I had a woman ask me what year it was. Weird question, but whatever, I tell her it’s 2018 and this woman looked me dead in the face and said, “2018? Are you sure?” like yeah? She thought it was still 2016. April 2016 at that. People are weird, man.

Some days, I missed the days at Starbucks, but cases like this, I bid adieu.
