Any tips or great stories for a new hire? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ametronome
I was just hired and I have orientation on Tuesday. I’ll be joining a friend of mine at a local store. I am excited to be a part of the team! Do y’all have any tips or interesting stories to share with a new partner?

Don't be afraid to ask questions, when I started I asked questions so much I thought i was annoying, but I did it for a reason I did not want to be that person everyone hates. Meaning the guy who messes up on everything. I used that as motivation to learn from every mistake and from every question I asked.

I think Starbucks culture really considers "not asking questions" to be the annoying act!

You NEED to ask questions to learn and grow.

Literally, a new guy was just... not doing any CS tasks that needed to be done and kinda wandering around and my coworker literally asked me, "Is he confused on what he should be doing? Why isn't he asking us questions if he's confused??"

Def ask lots of questions!! The more you ask the better you will learn. Also mistakes happen even when you have been there a while so don’t feel bad.
