Problem with SM need advice(self.starbucksbaristas)

So I come in to work my morning shift and on the back of one of our fridges there are the days for the newest schedule.
The shifts are all planned out. Everything is blacked out minus the times worked.
He is asking us to sign up for our own shifts since “we keep complaining about our hours worked.”
I reached out to my district and claimed this is a petty act and it’s impacting people’s financial livelihoods during a fricken pandemic.
I am unbelievably angry. I don’t know how to approach this and he and I aren’t on good terms to begin with.
Our store is always slammed and we are the highest volume in our district and this is just going to make everything worse.
Not to mention he gets paid a decent fricken salary to do this, not us at near minimum wage.

Your store manager isn't writing schedules at all? How is the DM allowing this? What did the DM have to say? Have you contacted HR (PCC..?)?

Oh no. They DID write it. It’s printed out. The schedule for every single day broken down as a DCR. All the names are crossed out in black sharpie.
He wants us all to sign up for the shifts we want because people keep complaining to him about scheduling. First come first serve.
I texted our DM about it and they’re apparently on board with this dumb idea.
Fucking with peoples financial livelihood in the middle of a pandemic when half of us can barely afford to even eat.

To me, that's not writing a schedule. I'd contact PCC or HR or whatever they're called about it. If not, and you haven't already, I'd start putting in applications anywhere I could and get out ASAP or ask for a transfer.

I’m holding out for a store opening up in my area. Trust me, I DO want to transfer. If I call PCC I will have a target on my back from that day forward until I leave the company.

Ugh, good point. I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with such childish behavior. Big virtual hugs and all the good transfer vibes!
