I specifically emailed Starbucks Customer Service because this same question was asked yesterday and this was the response I received:

> I'd like to let you know that the **Starbucks card cannot be purchased with another Gift Card**. What you can do is transfer the balance from the old one to the new one once both are registered under the same account. For this you can grab an empty card from the store, and register it in your account. To register a new card, you must sign onto your account at https://www.stabucks.com/account or the mobile app.

you can pay with the app but you won’t get stars. i did it the other day

Someone just tried to do this at my store and it didn’t work, I think even if it goes threw you don’t get the stars for gift cards
