GROSS SM (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by raindragon16
My SM last night told me at close last night, "Don't scrub every dish, only scrub what doesn't rinse off." I ignored her and washed the dishes anyway, I know she wants to be off on time but, 🤢🤢🤢. Now I know why all our pitchers are brown.

Edit: Grammar

I feel like I’m pretty particular about how dishes get done. People who throw the dishes in the washing side full of food and syrup and use and reuse brown water upset me

The tea pitchers are brown from the staining of the teas and iced coffee. There is no way to clean that off so they should be replaced periodically.

Easily cleaned with the right chemicals and a little bit of scrubbing. Yet to meet a pitcher I can't clean.

Yeah typically I just need to use some of the stuff on the washing side, a magic eraser, and the "staining" is gone. I get told by Co workers all the time that it is so hard to get the brown stuff off. But...it isn't. As long as you are using a scrubber every day for a quick once over, it won't build up.

Removing stains- urnex. Also, just actually scrubbing them. Destaining is a weekly thing where I started as a barista. Theres no reason to constantly replace pitchers, and to have crusty ones for so long.

I plan on using a "magic eraser" on them.

This isn't just starbucks, you'll see this behavior all over the food business. If a customer can't see it then some gross managers think it's ok if it's a little bit dirty.

The reality is health department inspectors typically at most give a small fine for this kind of stuff and managers know it.

I've always done it that way. I mean if its throughly rinsed and sanitized it should be clean.

Anything that gets hot milk splashed in it repeatedly ~needs~ to be scrubbed. The sanitizer isn’t going to remove caked on milk gunk.

They really should be scrubbed with soap. Milk buildup is bad for the machines n just plain yucky
