managers and shifts make up so much shit it’s ridiculous. you call out, you don’t come in. you aren’t required to provide a doctors note. period. if theres no way to contact the store, the shift’ll do. the “proper way” is usually made up bullshit.

The most important question is do you have protected sick time to use? If so, all you need to do is call your *manager* tomorrow, tell them you can’t come in because you’re sick and you want to use your protected sick time. Your manager can require you to provide a doctors note in order to use your sick time, so make sure you get a note when you go to the doctor.

If you don’t have protected sick time to use and you can’t / don’t find coverage in time, you can be written up for an unexcused absence and unfortunately there’s no real way around that.
