types of customers that really grind my gears(self.starbucksbaristas)

being rude because our bathrooms are closed
being rude because there is no seating
“give me a-“
order a lot and don’t tip
not wearing a mask
asking if they can sit when there’s a sign on the door and on all the tables that the seating is closed
“no i won’t wear a mask”
don’t say thank you when i hand them their drink

I once had a customer order by saying, "You're gonna give me a-" repeatedly for 5 drinks.
I was like, who raised you??

I have a theory-this is part of the lure of going out to eat. The chance to have a cheap servant to order around for just a moment is a huge ego boost for a lot of people. It makes them feel good and gives them a reason to come back.

When folks ask for 3 'creams.' Like, fuckin'... sure thing there, buddy.
ohnoifuckedupfr9 points2y ago
yess “i’ll have three sugars and three pumps of cream” pumps??? we aren’t a hotel giving complementary coffee 😭😭😭 just tell me how much you want dude.
Itchy_Refrigerator_110 points2y ago
My favorite is squirts. Ugh that word makes me cringe!!!
FelicityCecilia3 points2y ago
I dont think that one is rude in any way, just not knowing how our drinks work. Its complicated. I get this a lot, say nothing to it, and just put extra cream in their drink
Tisroero2 points2y ago
Oh, I never claimed it was rude. But it does grind my gears.

oh my god this guy today accidently broke a mug and shattered it on the floor. whatever, accidents happen, we assured him it was no problem and he apologized profusely.
he gets to front till to order his drink. uses a completely grumpy, muttering tone with me. “grande pike. three sugar.”
i tell him his total. he just stares at me. then lifts up his card and waves it in my face as if i’m supposed to know he’s paying with a card. doesn’t say thank you.
like damn i get you’re embarrassed but i wish i coulda made you pay for breaking the cup asshole

my mom broke a mug at a starbucks in Mexico and they made us pay for it 😩😂 she was in such a bad mood about it that she didn’t want her drink anymore. I just felt bad for her and the workers lol
violetskies73 points2y ago
usually that’s the policy for small businesses but starbucks doesn’t care. they’re more about making the customer happy.
LindaFromAccounting_25 points2y ago
I would like to add "light and sweet" to the mix because wtf is that? just tell me what you want and if you have a milk preference SAY THAT before I finish your drink NOT after.
imeanitpeanut9 points2y ago
I know, trying to get them to tell me exactly how they want their coffee is painful. I’m in Dunkin Donuts country so I get “regular” a lot, or extra sugar. I tell them I don’t know what that means. Every customer that says those things has a different interruption of it too. Just say what you mean and don’t get mad at me for not being able to read your mind!

The gotta give you their order in installments
NervosaNervous24 points2y ago
When people Mobile order while they’re in the Drive-Thru line or right before they walk into the store and then get bitchy when we ask them to give us time to make their drinks. The app asks to give us at least 5 minutes before trying to pick it up.
mrbubblegxm18 points2y ago
or when they launch into the order immediately and then there’s something special and you have to hunt for it. and then without checking with you. they fire off more drinks even fancier
Fit_Willingness12293 points2y ago
i’m like “give me one sec MA’AM, i’m still looking for those buttons” 🥲

Who place a 4+ drink mobile order and appear in-store or at the order box to pick it up within the next 30 seconds to minute. That’s my least favorite
sstcyr11 points2y ago
•Moving the blockades to sit even though there's a closed sign on each table.
•Passing the blockade and ignoring the signs that the bathrooms are closed.
•"SORRY I REALLY HAVE TO GO"
Ma'am that's really not my problem. They just go on ahead anyway tho. It's infuriating.
•"Hello, thanks for choosing Starbucks, my name is ______, what's your name?"
CARAMEL MACCHIATO GRANDE WITH---
•greet them at the order box and theyre like "ah hold on I'm putting in a mobile order" WHY SIR?? JUST ORDER IT HERE.
SelocAvrap3 points2y ago
Gotta admit tho, names in the drive thru was a bad idea. Most people don't like that one or have been trained that the first question is "what can I get you"
gingersnap_zuzu [OP]1 points2y ago
just name their order caramel macchiato LMAOOOO
tseriesisdone3 points2y ago
“I need-“ or “give me-“ never “may I have” or “can I please have”
bexbux2 points2y ago
I always say “can I please get,” but my mom would tell me “don’t say that. just say ‘I want’,” but I’m glad I never switched it. but I think her saying that might be a translation from her native language
lushloverdanny2 points2y ago
To add on to what you stated, people who go “I need a -“ or “let me get a-“ are kind of irking. I know that it’s not that bad and they probably aren’t aware that it’s anything bad but it’s mildly annoying. And of course the people who skip all pleasantries and go straight to the order. And also people who pull up to the window before it’s even open with their card in hand.
