lol hi!
i’m still freshly out of training (like a month in now) and i’m still having hella issues at DTO/DTR. i got dtr down pretty good but dto can just be a lottt. idk how it is at other locations but at mine, we’re also in charge of warming and my ass keeps forgetting to get the food in the oven when people order ☠️ i am hella scared for when i work dto and dtr alone and i have to be handing everything out and i taking orders and keeping up with warming?!

It can be really tough! At my store dto ask doubles as cold bar and is responsible for helping the drive thru barista make refreshers and what not. It’s a lot to do while also trying to talk to the customer. You’ll get it eventually I wouldn’t worry. Worst case your shift will avoid putting you over there lol

omg! it’s all so overwhelming hahaha. the longer i’m here the more respect i have for baristas. i’ve always known it was a lot to handle but WOO. i still have so much to learn on bar! i like dt but it gets old if it’s all i do lol. i’m good at ✨connecting✨ and get mad tips so they keep plopping me there!

Yeah it’s a lot lmao I’ve been working at Starbucks for only like four months and I’m still struggling with connections. My shift stopped putting me in the window because I’m so bad at talking lol I honestly love bar way more than I thought I would

I just say “let me double check on that” for their food and I warm it up while they’re waiting for me to check on it

When I first transferred to a DT, my manager and even my DM said it’s ok to say “please hold on for a second” and get help vs. screwing an order up and moving on the mistakes to the rest of crew. I knew the drinks but mostly marked cups up until then, and never needed to add modifiers unless they needed to be charged for it. So finding ALL the buttons took time, so add that to gathering food, RTD, prepping orders, making sure each drink was cleaned off from a messy bar person, took a TON of time to get down pat. I could eventually do it all in my sleep, but I’d be so nervous. So take your time and don’t be afraid to ask for a quick pause to ask for help, it’ll take less time overall than letting a mistake go through.

that’s so true. taking a few extra seconds to make sure stuff is right is so much better than having to redo stuff. i wish other people realized that too haha! thank you :)

That’s how our store works too! You’ll have to try and get a routine down! I gather the food as they’re ordering it and get it in the oven while taking orders
