Random hour cuts????? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by AmethystDeer
I don’t work a lot, and the days I do work I really need bc since COVID I’m barely scraping by with hours. I noticed for an upcoming schedule that I don’t work one of my usual days, find it really weird that all of a sudden I’m not working that day. I asked my manager about it and she said they didn’t need coverage for that day but I am still a bit confused. I had adjusted my schedule to fit this specific day upon request instead of another one I had previously. I have this fear that it’s because of me, or my performance not being the best even though I try my hardest (I’ve been an active partner for roughly 5 months and I still have trouble multitasking on bar) and I just get anxiety lol. Has anyone had this situation happen before where all of a sudden your schedule is missing a day or two that you normally work and your hours are down?

Yes me too!! I barely survive with the money I get, i cant imagine what will happen if i continue to get my hours cut. Might have to switch jobs!

This is typical. Stores overstaff for the holidays, so once the holidays are over, there are too many partners and not enough hours. It’s usually not big of an issue because eventually people have to go back to school, but you’re most likely looking towards a few difficult weeks ahead.

Covid is still happening. Im not defending your schedule writer but there is definitely a shortage all around. I personally wouldn't worry about it heavily. I would tell my manager that I'm available for anyone calling in sick because the hours are needed. However all I am saying is, this could be covid related, not performance related and not to worry about your actions.

Good idea, thank you so much

Yes I second this. My manager only has everyone scheduled for about 20 hours a week. But on average at least 10 shifts need to be covered every week. What with everyone calling out and corona and other family reasons. It’s all very up in the air. Most of the people I know make almost a third of their money from picking up other peoples’ shifts

Also if you have any sick time. Some managers let partners add their sick time to weeks when they’re short hours if they need money. But that’s a manager by manager thing. Probably ask your shift or other partners if they’ve ever heard of your manager doing these things?

My availability is 4 days a week, as i’m still in high school and my schedule is absolute mayhem. I’m available Wednesday, Friday, Saturday nights and Sunday mornings. I understand my manager cutting Sundays because we went back to block scheduling, but for the past couple weeks she has only scheduled me on Saturdays. I’ve been begging her for more hours and she says she’ll see what she can do but seriously wtf?! I’ve been covering as many people as i can so that i can at least work 2-3 days, but come on!!

It could be reduced labor after the holidays? Just a guess though
