I’ve been on DTO/DTR for two weeks (I just started I have three weeks in total) for most of the time but I really want to be on bar, should I ask my shift to throw me on bar or what do you guys think? Any tips for the bars?

I wasn’t really put on bar until 6-7 months in. That’s usually how it works.

Really? I’m about a month and a half in, and there’s times where I’m just working bar by myself at night.

Depends on the location and what day-part you work. If you are a green bean that works peak or at a high volume store. It can indeed be months.

Nailed it. Super high volume. I open.

It wasn't even a full week before my store started putting me on bar.

How much bar training have you had? I lucked out and was able to be trained on bar when our store closed down due to two of our baristas testing positive for the ‘Rona. Before that I was also kept at DTR/DTO and CS. Here’s a few tips: - Sequencing will be your best friend and will help you get more than one drink going at a time.
- Look at the app to help you with the recipes. Here’s a little cheat sheet: - Nearly all hot drinks get 2% milk, except the Flat White and the Almond Honey Flat White. The traditional Flat White gets whole milk and the Almond Honey Flat White gets almond milk. - The amount of shots/syrup a drink gets depends on the size. Short: 1 shot and 2 pumps syrup Tall: 1 shot and 3 pumps syrup Grande: 2 shots and 4 pumps syrup Venti: 3 shots and 5 pumps syrup
Frapps/Refreshers/Ice Teas can throw you off your groove sometimes, so don’t get frustrated. And ask questions if you need help with a recipe. You’ll get into the hang of it!!

I’ve had a little bit of bar experience, when I was training and usually in the morning shift when it’s kind of solo. I tried sequencing but it does get kind of difficult but hopefully gets easier overtime? I just want to be on bar and get more experience but I’m always on DTR/DTO and a lot of our partners are actually out because of suspected cases of covid /: so I haven’t had any luck getting more hands on at bar

Being put on bar during morning shift is hard during peak. I would say the easiest way to get you on bar faster is to pick up weekday night shift because they will put green beans on bar when it is slow. I was put on bar the first time after a month at the company.

I was lucky with bar training because my coworkers were all really cool/chill about everything one day randomly when it wasnt that busy, my shift was like "okay ur on mobile bar, ill do drive thru. Ask me any questions and do ur best" it was like my second week in and I work bar for the majority of my shifts since then.
So my advice would be, ask ur shift in charge if they would allow you to be on bar during a time when its a bit slower. Because youve got experience working dto, you'll be surprised at how well you already know what goes into the drinks. Good luck have fun :D
