New Starbucks Covid Guidelines (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by cosmicsnowpea
Today during our SSV meeting our SM talked us through the new Starbucks covid guidelines. I guess these new rules were given to the SMs a few weeks ago.
Our baristas will get the new information within the week.
I haven’t seen anyone in this subreddit talk about the new guidelines.. do y’all know yet?..

A couple key points:
If an employee willingly goes into a group of 2 or more (family they don’t live with, friends they don’t live with, restraints, bars, entertainment, ect.) and contracts Covid, they will not be eligible for isolation pay.

If a store adjusts hours of operations, employees will no longer be compensated for their hourly average. They will only be paid time worked.

I could have received incorrect information, but I think it’s all right

The first one sounds like bullshit because they’d have to prove that you got COVID from going out. The two aren’t mutually exclusive. That being said, if they have proof you went or did something reckless and then caught COVID, they may be able to deny you coverage, the same way you don’t get covered when you travel and your state has a self-isolation requirement when you return.

The second one I believe because typically when stores get shut down for one reason or another, the partners at that store are sent to other stores in the area that are still open. As long as your manager is offering you hours somewhere, I’m not sure there’s any motivation for them to offer CAT pay.

I also agree that number one sounds like crap. Starbucks can’t control what you do on your off time and tell you what you can or cannot do.

I feel like they’re taking away our incentive to report we’re sick, I can’t afford to lol

Lol y’all should see what it’s like in Texas, we have partners and shifts even the manager sharing drinks and all kinds of shit.
My anxiety was at a breaking point till I just kinda gave up. I hate this job lol
