Customers pay my rent. Couldn’t have all this nice stuff without em
hopelovepeace33 13 points 2y ago
That doesn’t mean that they don’t suck especially when they are rude for literally zero reasons at all.
reb678 1 points 2y ago
You make it sound like every single person that walks in the door, or comes thru drive, is a jerk.

I don’t think you mean this, but if you do, this is the wrong business for you. Maybe you aren’t a “people” person. I’m a 159. Customers don’t suck. Customers are the reason I am sitting in a nice warm room right now enjoying the sun hitting me as I type this.

I’ve had customers that were in high school come in and study after school, go on to college and come back with degrees. I’ve had them bring us trays of food for the entire crew.

Customers don’t suck.

I NEVER said that all of them are jerks nor did I imply that they all suck, but when you get those 10 to 20 customers who come through daily who are rude to you for asking them to repeat their order because they are whispering or because it’s loud inside & then they want to yell at you or because you ask them to wear a mask inside & they want to argue with you about it when you are simply following the rules that have been set by the company. I’ve got connections with all my regular customers (I literally made 485$ in personal tips from my customers simply because I’m kind, cheerful & simply remember their drink orders every time they come through this Christmas) and customers who frequently come through so it’s not that I’m not a “people” person it’s because I think that it’s BULLSHIT that human beings believe that they can treat us like we are absolute trash for literally no reason what so ever. I love working at Starbucks, I love my partners & SM, and every single one of my customers! I’m even kind to the rude ass ones who are rude to me for no reason, but customers can really suck sometimes not all of them are as nice as you seem to be making them out to be, but the majority of customers that come through are amazing it’s just those few who can ruin your day.

Further more I also bought two of my customer dogs who are regulars Christmas gifts as well as buying two Christmas cards for two other customers, so you assuming that I’m not a “people” person is clearly inaccurate. Just because someone says “customers” doesn’t mean they are referring to every single customer that comes through the store that day they just mean those entitled jerks who wants to say “Why did you guys shut down the cafe?! Is because of California?” and when you proceed to tell him it’s because covid cases are rising & that corporate made the decision he wants to roll his eyes and laugh at you as he’s wearing a mask improperly that we provided for him or have a customer come through the drive thru & say “Can I get a venti hot white chocolate mocha & it’s my birthday and I’m also a healthcare worker” you then proceed to ask them if they have the app they say NO and then you proceed to tell them that the healthcare coffee is a tall hot or iced coffee & then they want to say “Well cant I just get a venti hot white mocha” you then ask your shift & she tells you to just give it to her because if you don’t she will argue & complain, but when we do that it creates people like her who believe they should be able to get shit for free & not follow the rules like literally EVERYONE else! So YES from time to time CUSTOMERS SUCK! Also the moments that I mentioned were literal interactions I’ve had with customers

omg i so agree with you. literally a customer yesterday wanted to use the free healthcare worker benefit and literally both the passenger and driver weren't wearing a mask. like aren't healthworkers supposed to endorse that???
tariaaaaa [OP] 2 points 2y ago
trueee, at my store we have awesome sweet regulars who come in and give gifts to us and just random customers who like to be nice, kind, and give tips. but there are customers where they feel like they are so entitled to their own opinion and don't like to follow store policy, customers who like to add 10 drinks at the window and not leave a tip or say thank you. they take big fast food chains for granted. they don't see our everyday life of stress as baristas.
reb678 1 points 2y ago
If they add at the window, collect the money and tell them to pull to the parking lot. They will stop adding at the window and it will increase window times. Keep the line moving, right?

Some customers suck, that’s just life. But it’s best to not make blanket statements in life. This way of thinking leads to the need for Black Lives Matter. If authorities didn’t preconceive attitudes about the public, we wouldn’t need to demonstrate in the streets.

See where I’m coming from? It’s all connected.

I’ve got a partner who’s a 112 and she even says customers suck sometimes because guess what they do & this place is where we can come to vent about it because we aren’t allowed to verbally berate our customers like they do us sometimes.
gavinatoristhatyou 2 points 2y ago
they literally do not, starbucks pays ur rent
reb678 1 points 2y ago
Where does Starbucks get its money to pay me?
From the blonde in the suv with an attitude that just got a Skinny vanilla latte.

Customers pay our salaries.
gavinatoristhatyou 2 points 2y ago
it’s much more complicated than that. you are acting like we owe the customers anything for coming to us. our salary doesn’t change based on customers.
bacob30 1 points 2y ago
yeah no starbucks definitely has other transactions besides selling to customers at the store lol
