To all the baristas: when someone orders a trenta iced coffee with half n half. And the ticket shows up as: Tr Icd Cof W/Milk 3 pumps Hazelnut Syrup With Cream
Should that come with the standard classic syrup for a trenta by default?
I ask this because I thought a iced coffee [black] comes with no sugar or cream. But if you order(from the app) an iced coffee with cream it comes 'sweetened'
Im not a barista. So some clarification would be very much appreciated. Thanks guys. Hope your day isn't horrible. :D

By default iced coffee has classic syrup, it’s stupid but that IS the official recipe. So unless you ask for no classic, you’re gonna get classic.
No, it doesn’t make sense for the default to be sweetened but it is what it is.

Iced coffee is sweetened by default, so it gets classic unless it says "no classic" on the sticker.

Thanks for the clarification. So I have emailed Starbucks many times because I normally order the drink above and there are so many times it comes unsweetened. Zero classic. I'll drink and its coffee, cream, hazelnut.
I feel like either is a bad training situation or to avoid all of that just put it on the sticker. Maybe a symbol like C for classic or S for sweetened. Idk. But I've had to go inside after going through the drive thru or back to the cashier and ask for classic because it wasn't added. /it happened today.

I firmly believe iced coffee should be unsweetened by default, especially because most customers assume it is. It leads to so much confusion and remade drinks this way.

I can agree with this also make it where if you want it to be sweetened that it puts that on the sticker/ticket that goes on the cup so the barista knows for sure its sweetened.

It's an annoyance of the MOP system. Iced coffee SHOULD always have classic unless it specifies NO CLASSIC. But sometimes if you add an additional syrup many baristas will think you want that syrup instead of the classic and therefore just leave it, which is technically not what they're supposed to do (similarly, many baristas will forego adding whip to drinks with whip if the customer uses an alternative milk, even though they should still add it unless told not to).
To ensure you still get the classic, you can order your drink with the 3 Hazelnut and 6 Classic (actually enter the amount the same way you do for Hazelnut) that way even the newest barista will know you want both.
Edit: oops, 6 Classic for Venti, 7 for Trenta

I agree that those are the standards. Having been a partner for about a year and a half though, it's much easier to put classic in and stir than remake the whole drink, much like it's easier to confirm if they want whip or not. I can add whip, but can't take it away.
I personally think Starbucks should change standards to remove classic if another syrup is added, and whip with alt milks. Most partners at our store know to ask customers about these 2 things specifically when ordering, especially because you can click no whip and then add whip to have it print on the sticker in dt/cafe.

It should still be sweetened with classic. But if I can I will ask if they wanted to sub out the classic for the other syrup or have it in addition to it.
