Glaring loophole in COVID coach? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Kaywin
I work two jobs, like I’m sure most of us have to because that rent ain’t getting paid on COVID hours at Sbux pay. One of my coworkers at my second job has tested positive for COVID; as of December 29, my second workplace is shut down. Another coworker from that job came down with body aches and nausea shortly thereafter (but has had a negative rapid test.)

Per the COVID coach, my second job is 1) not an “intimate/continuous close contact” setting, based on the examples they gave - I’m not a caregiver and I don’t live with any of these people. Neither of course is it an “outside of work” setting, per the next question in the coach. Based on these technicalities, the coach says I’m ok to keep my Sbux shifts, even though my second workplace is shut down at the moment... it seems as if, even if my other workplace had a buncha people get sick, the coach would still say to “continue to work and self monitor.” Am I missing something?

I did text my SM about it before my last shift because I was concerned (the first coworker had not yet tested positive but that workplace was already shut down.) She basically told me it was up to me to elect to isolate or not. :/

There are a lot of glaring issues with Covid coach and the way we handle things. My roommate came home from a wedding to find it 4 of the people she was in close contact with had Covid. Despite the likelihood of her having Covid, I had to work until she got a positive result, and nobody else quarantined in my store despite the fact I had symptoms by the time I quarantined. It's wack.
