Any other 10+ year partners out there? I am struggling beyond belief right now.
This job has never been so challenging. We are so short staffed, machines constantly breaking, partners constantly calling out, our store manager is literally a shell of a person as this point and the shift team is taking our turns having mental break downs. Anti-maskers, people wanting to cause scenes. We can’t handle all of this.
We are having to RUN and lock the door on customers several times a weeks because we can’t handle the volume of customers even if we get mobile turned off. Customers never know what to expect, most are so sweet. Some are NASTY. The customer experience is bad but the partner experience is HELL.
My main problem is corporate isn’t giving us a plan. No plan on what to do when things get so out of control we can’t handle it. We deserve breaks. The store needs cleaning and stocking and fixing, it’s too much for a few people to manage and there is NO PLAN.
Our DM is very supportive of what we need to do but her hands are tied too. Is anyone getting help? Anyone have any ideas other than just locking people out? We try to have it closed ahead of the rush but it’s sometimes not possible. I am broken up over the condition of my store and my team and I cant keep letting it affect my mental health or the health of my team.
SOS.

Besides locking the lobby and just concentrating on drive, I have no other suggestions.
I suppose you could talk with your other partners and if you all agree, everyone call in sick for a day? That might open some eyes up the ladder.
I’m a 159. I’ve had 5 DM’s in all that time, but only one RM. Your RM would be your next move I would think. See if they could send resources/Staff your way?

I am fully prepared to fake a contact. We all are.
aliennegirl12 points2y ago
Do it. The closest thing they’re giving us is two catastrophic pay periods, not hazard pay or anything. May as well get your paid time off during what looks to be the worst of this things nationally if they’re going to risk everyone’s lives with no extra pay.
reb6789 points2y ago
It would at least give you a few days off.
reb6784 points2y ago
We had a SSV test positive and all but 9 people had to go away for a few days. When that happened, the skeleton crew that was left locked the lobby for 2 weeks and store hours were 5:30AM-1:30PM.
That’s just the way it had to be.
Good luck in whatever happens next. My heart goes out to you.

Thank you so much.

I’m right there with you. I have major anxiety just using the bathroom at work (when I ever get the chance) because we never have time to clean them and haven’t had any disinfectant wipes for weeks. Yesterday a maskhole regular customer I already hate TOOK HIS MASK OFF TO SNEEZE all over our cafe TWICE. I freaked out and told my boss I had to take 5 minutes and used my break to douse the lobby in peroxide spray.
Edit: 125**** rehired last year so I’ve been around the block and miss the company I used to work for. This is bullshit

Our closers stopped mopping altogether a couple weeks ago and it was causing me to literally break down because I couldn’t handle walking around in filth. They have been working with 2-3 (1-9:30) people a night when they need 5-6 at least for a solid close. It’s disgusting but we can BARELY take care of customers much less everything else. My heart breaks.

It’s not our fault we’re so stressed, we are doing the job of at least two people each. I highly recommend our free Lyra counseling, it does help but doesn’t make up for the lack of organization all around at this company.
teet_teet [OP]3 points2y ago
Thank you. ❤️
teet_teet [OP]2 points2y ago
Y’all, I’m so thankful for your support. I get a lot of “you’re replaceable, the company doesn’t care about you” and “you should get a new job”. It’s truly not that easy for one, right now, and while I already have too many irons in the fire. And two, I have so much pride in my team and my store and I love them and my customers so much. And they love me. It’s hard to see this all going down the toilet.

229 here👋 I'm completely on your side. I've been strictly a closer since I got hired and its a very rare occasion where we can't mop the store. Yes I do understand the openers and the mids have alot on their hands but we only get 3 closers compared to the 5-8 person play the rest of the day. If it were me I would have a store meeting every other month.
teet_teet [OP]1 points2y ago
We are so high volume and so short staffed I can’t blame anyone who’s actually here working. They’re all doing everything they can. We are grabbing at straws here.
teet_teet [OP]7 points2y ago
Thanks for your reply. I’m so sorry. My anxiety is so high I’m afraid I’m gonna stroke out over this place. I’m so sorry.

Been around over 14 years, this is the worst it has ever been. Before Covid, there were 10 to 15 minute breaks with no customers at all. Now there is never not a customer and it’s all green beans plus me and the shifts
oversoakedoreo3 points2y ago
I'm so sorry 😞 May the beans be in your favor
teet_teet [OP]2 points2y ago
It’s pure hell.

10 year, making an exit plan, it’s not it anymore

29 year partner here. Call your DM, email your RM, contact the business conduct hotline, don’t stop until you’re heard!
teet_teet [OP]2 points2y ago
Thank you. Wow. I’ve been here 15 years and never met someone who’s been here longer. We need a company wide change immediately. But I will start there.
cadmus18905 points2y ago
I daydream of organizing a stock sell off by baristas to fund either a union or just to be collateral for a new business.
slamy4203 points2y ago
228 here. Just transferred to a new store and not jiving with the new environment. The comraderie is really what makes this job work and theres none at all- honestly ready to just fucking bounce. Between what corps been putting everyone through, and continued lack of support from SMs who just care about connection scores this place isnt worth the birdseed they feed us
teet_teet [OP]2 points2y ago
We’re far past caring about scores. Times, numbers, none of that matters.
MawcDrums2 points2y ago
224 here, yeah it's really bad now.
hannahanjuna2 points2y ago
Not a 10 year partner but 211xxxx I’ve just come back as a rehire. I can’t offer a lot of advice since I’m just coming back into the swing of things however, I can entirely empathize with the amount of stress your going through. I wish there was a way we can lock the door and turn off mobile orders because it has been literal hell the last few weeks
teet_teet [OP]1 points2y ago
We have been locking it on customers. It’s pathetic.
