So about a month ago I did what some of us have always wanted to do.
Here’s the background. I work in a very busy drive thru store that has the only drive thru for a long stretch of road. So throughout the day we are very busy. To set up the stage let’s go back about 2 months ago. I was on hot bar working with a relatively new green bean as they worked on cold bar. We had a mobile order print out that was a caramel crunch with an add shot. No problem right? I start pulling the shot and as I am the person walks in. We’ll call him Kent. He walks straight to mobile orders and stands there tapping his foot. I ask-
Me- “What’s the name for the order?”
Kent- *points at the frap in the blender*
Me- “Oh cool it’ll be out in a sec”
I go bar to making a drink and my fellow barista hands him the drink.
Kent-“ you made this wrong. It’s not supposed to have whip!” As he yells
The drink never said no whip...
Barista- “Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t see it on the sticker... I’ll make a new one right now”
She makes the drink and gives it to him.
Kent- “y’all are a bunch of dumb****, can’t make a drink right to save your life. And you! (Points at the barista) you are a dumb c***”
Me-“hey watch the language. If you’re done. Get out”
Kent- *gives me the middle finger and leaves*
Now to about a month ago.
I’m on cold bar for morning peak and since it was going to be a hot day put myself there to help my team since I’m very confident in cold bar.
I see a mobile sticker print out... with the name Kent...
Me- “oh buddy”
The drink was a mango dragon fruit with no ice.
I made the drink and set it at mobile order but just as I set it there Kent walks in.
Kent-*points at drink*
Me-*slides it over*
Kent- “this is wrong, it’s supposed to be brighter in color”
Me-“we’ll see Kent the color is something out of my control when it comes to the pieces. I can maybe put some dragon fruit powder in there to make it brighter?”
Kent- “why can’t you all make the drink right... dumb***.” “ know what I wanna see the manager”
So funny thing.... I’m a barista and my actual store manager is on hot bar watching since the last time he came in he made the barista cry. My manager gets ready to come over but this is what I did...
Me- *does a 360* “hi I’m the store manager what seems to be the problem?”
Kent- *looks visibly confused* “no boy get me your manager!”
Me-“well I am the manager sooo?”
Me- “Look I gave you a chance to redeem yourself with how you acted last time. I’m not having it. You verbally attacked my barista and also insulted me. Get out before I call the police”
Kent- *storms out of the store* *gives me the finger again*
My manager looks at me and asks me to go into the back. We had a laugh about it and he asked me never to do that again.
But goodness it felt good to push back at a rude customer!
