i’m sorry that your coworkers aren’t being supportive and patient with you.
starbucks IS very mentally and physically draining, and that feeling doesn’t go away. you just get more used to it.
not a single barista is ready to go after training. our training is so short and the way we learn is by being thrown into the thick of it and making it work.
all starbucks are stressful, it’s just the job, but over time you learn to let go of mistakes and worry less about speed and you don’t get stressed anymore. my store was very welcoming to me as a new barista so that made it easier for me.
i would say stick with it for a little while, don’t take anything personally and try your best not to get stressed. it’s just a job- nobody’s dying because they have to wait an extra minute for their food. you’ll learn as you go, and if you still feel this way after a little while then it might just not be for you. good luck, keep your head up!

Hi! Partner who started in September here! It’s a super stressful and exhausting job overall especially if you’re in a high volume store where the customers basically never stop. You just kinda have to get used to it and NOT bring it home with you. If you bring it home you won’t be able to relax.
Don’t worry if you’re not fast it comes with time and practice you just have to learn sequencing really. (Try to always put something new in the oven when taking things out or steam new milk when taking milk off the steam wand on bar) but it comes with time and practice!
I wouldn’t worry too much about opening with just a shift at my store the shift usually sets up the bar (ice coffee, brewing, teas, espresso) while the partner usually sets up the pastry case and dates the sandwiches (sirens eye on the iPad shows you exactly how to set up the case so it’s pretty easy!)
Also communicate! Say if you’re on warming and you know they’re waiting for something for drive (if you’re in a drive store) you can tell them how much time is left so that way they know what to expect or if you’re on bar and they’re waiting on a drink you can tell them you’re finishing it or waiting for shots to pull or whatever is happening. It’s not required but it helps keep everyone in the loop :)
My best advice really is not to stress out outside of work and just take a breath. Speed comes with knowledge and practice and repetition!
