Me, ~150 times today: “Hi, I just want to let you know that our espresso machine is broken so we can’t make any drinks with espresso or steamed milks.” Them: “Does that include lattes?” (self.starbucksbaristas)

Me: “Yes, unfortunately I am unable to make that since it is made of espresso shots and steamed milk.”

One lady was dejected she couldn’t get a caramel macchiato bc I explained it had espresso, and then she asked for it iced which I also had to tell her had espresso. To be fair, I didn’t know the differences in coffee before I worked with it.

Right but, you dont need to work at a coffee place to figure out that hot and iced versions of drinks have the same core ingredients. Im also super curious as to what people like that think is in a latte. Im just lurking here i work at dunkin but the amount of times people ask for cream in their latte makes my head spin. One (1) person actually knew that a latte is mostly milk and truly wanted the cream, the rest had no idea. I would say "lattes are made with mostly milk, do you still want cream in it?" 99% of the time they say no

I had this happen once and I specifically looked at my menu boards and was like anything from the mochas up we cannot do but everything else is fair game.
I kid you not, a guest tries to order something between that drink and the top. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and was like no. That has espresso. Later when I looked, after he was gone, I checked the board and that drink was between the top and the mocha.
You try to make it easier and I swear the guests purposely try to make it harder.

The “latte with sugar and cream” people always throw me off...they always claim that they know what it is when I explain it, but a Starbucks size latte is a drink that’s 87.5% to ~92% milk (or cream) standard with no extra shots (a shot is 1oz). Any more milk or cream and it would be a glass of warm milk. It’s not drip...

Our brewers are down and having to explain to every person that no we cannot do brewed coffee or iced coffee but we can do an americano has been the bane of my existence

The amount of time I have to look at people and say, are you wanting the latte? Or are you actually wanting the syrup in a cup of coffee? They often go 🤷🏻 they say they like coffee
