CLOSERS: Closing with the same people every night?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by trash81_
My store does block scheduling. Closers typically come in at 130 and then leave throughout the night. There's only around 8 people at my store that work nights so I'm always closing with the same people most days. Anyone have this happening at your store ? How do you guys feel about being with the same number of small people every day? Hoe social is your store ? How well does everyone get along? Basically working 8 hour shifts 4-5 days a week with the same people is a decent amount of time

That type of situation is great if you like the people. I open with mostly the same people, and we have a nice system, gets stuff done efficiently

It's fine and I don't mind the people I consistently work with, but I miss some of my other coworkers who I really enjoyed working with before block scheduling happened. I literally haven't seen a few of them in weeks even in passing because I usually come in at 3 and they all leave by 1 or so.

Yes! Block scheduling definitely makes me miss working with people on the other block that I never see anymore

Thankfully I like all my coworkers I close with on a daily basis, but I feel like block scheduling really creates an “Us vs. Them” block mentality. I’ve been trying to be more mindful about not feeding into it but it’s hard when you’re frustrated with what isn’t done. I also don’t get to see some of my favorite people as much anymore, both coworkers and regulars 😔.

I feel like we have this same problem too. Never seeing the other Block really fuels the morning/night frustrations.

It sucks

I love my coworkers that I close with, but we miss morning people dearly. They come in as customers/go through drive during nights so we at least see each other in that capacity, and we see each other for like 5 minutes during shift change.
