the other day someone ordered a chestnut praline and i accidentally made it a caramel brûlée.....they didn’t say anything but it haunts my dreams

Someone ordered a decaf americano and I made it blonde.

Thank god the window barista was chatting with them because I FLEW back to the bar and screamed “it’s the exact opposite of decaf!!” And made a new one.

It was 5:30a so they just happily chatted while I remade and everyone was happy and no one died of a heart attack.

My first day on bar I got an order for a hot caramel macchiato or smth and hadn't been shown how to make it. Everyone was busy so I couldnt ask for help, so I made her a caramel latte and told her I was still new and to let me know how it is!! She said it was the best thing she'd ever tasted. Help

A few nights ago was my first time being on bar and I made about seven hot chocolates and mochas and didn't put whip on any of them... But no one said anything!

The other day I was on window and was handing out a Frappuccino. The woman looked at it and said "I asked for no whip", I looked at the sticker and saw it did say no whip so I asked her if it's alright if we just scrape it off or if she'd like it remade. She looked pretty upset, and said flatly "just scrape it off." I did that for her then handed it to her, and she said "didn't I say no whip?" I just said cheerfully "Yes you did, it said no whip on the sticker, but sometimes we just make mistakes! 🙃" she took that surprisingly well lol

A couple days ago this lady orders through drive 2 tall vanilla bean fraps with non fat milk and I made it with whole milk instead 😭. She didn’t come back though lol

ok, so this wasn’t me but another partner had been putting shots in chai lattes for her first week or so because she thought “latte” meant there was espresso in it 🤭 also a different partner (who’s literally worked there longer than I have) has been making iced chais with 1/2 water 1/2 milk this whole time (literally for more than 6 months) 🥴 no wonder the one she made me once tasted horrible oop-

I accidentally thought our eggnog was vanilla sweet cream. Needless to say, a few customers got eggnog cold foam that day.

Me: when I ever accidentally give someone almond milk instead of 2%

Also me: please don't be allergic, please don't be allergic

depends on the situation. If its harmless things like you forgot nonfat milk , guest espresso or whip and ,,they ask ist this made with ....?"

.\_. yes maam!

but if it's decaf shots, plant based milk or sugarfree-syrup please always redo the drink! This can do serious harm to people with diabetes, allergies or give them a really unpleasant day ( for example palpitations as a reaction to the caffeine)

Lmao yep. The customers know that they are going to fast food, which WILL mess up their orders occasionally though.

Sometimes when I'm slammed, I realize I made a drink wrong that hasn't been handed out yet.

If it's the wrong milk, I'll remake it. But if it's the wrong type of sugar water flavouring... well fuck that. Nothing happened.

This regular customer became a regular after one of my partners made her the wrong drink!! She loved it so much that she orders it everyday!

Having worked in customer service all my life, I completely get that mistakes happen and appreciate when someone can own it and move on. Sadly, I had multiple instances at different Starbucks in my area where my drink was made incorrectly and when I politely (even timidly, because I hate putting people out if they are busy) let the barista know, I was met with either annoyed pissy demeanors while they slammed things around and remade it or outright telling me I was wrong. I had been getting the same drink for YEARS so I have a pretty good idea what it’s supposed to taste like. Eventually I gave up and took my business to Peet’s.
RIP Grande Coffee Frappuccino w Almond Milk and only 2 pumps of Base (to counter the sweetness of the almond milk as recommend by a Starbucks manager). :(

Edit: just to give a shout out to all the awesome baristas that are out there. I hope you guys realize how much you mean to your regulars. Even my kids love to see our favorite baristas and give fist bumps.

I've been at my store for almost three months now and so far i've made a venti frappuccino as a trenta (in my defense, the cups were in the wrong spot), pressed "1" instead of three while making cold foam, and forgot to put classic in iced coffee.

I would've made a hell of a lot more mistakes but I don't bar too often.
