Firstly, so sorry to hear that you are going through some bad news with family. I know how difficult it can be to focus on your interview with bad news lingering in the back of your mind. But you can do it!
Secondly, breathe. Be yourself. Try to think of your strengths and positives. There's a good reason why you're being considered for a shift position! Whether you've expressed interest first or your SM approached you first, clearly your SM believes there's something about you that will benefit your store/team (or another store) and it's a great feeling to have knowing that someone knows you can accomplish this!
I haven't interviewed for a shift position in a long time, so I'm not sure what the questions are like today, but from my experience, they want to see how you can lead and handle certain situations. They will want to hear specific examples and how you took the situation, processed it, and dealt with it. So if you have any stories you can share that shows that, I would encourage you to share it. They really just want to see that you are ready and will be responsible. You could speak about your strengths and how you can be an asset to the team as a shift. Write it out tonight if you need to.
I am terrible at interviews and get so nervous, that I often downplay my abilities and skills. But I talked about how I was able to take charge and lead my team and be a good example even as a barista. As nervous as I was, I managed to get the promotion!
You can do it!!!

Don’t be afraid to be honest with your goals and dreams in life. Show that you are serious about the position and try to relate any previous management experience to how you can utilize it within Starbucks!
