what can i get per shift? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by kokiichiouma
i've heard a lot of different things. to start, i was told i can get one free beverage and food item per shift. later i was told about the weekly bean markout, getting one free drink even if im not working, and partner discount on cups etc. recently i've been told that as long as i'm working i can get unlimited free drinks, but from someone else that its three per shift (before, mid, after). firstly, i don't know if either of those last two are true, i have been able to ring up my discount multiple times in one day but i don't know if the system doesn't process that or not. secondly, if the information on three per shift or unlimited per shift is true, does that apply to food as well?

at both stores i worked at, you can get a drink 30 minutes before your shift, and then however many you want throughout the day. then you can get one drink when you’re going home. you can only get one food while you are on shift. every week you can take one free bag of coffee and it resets on sundays. i know some will say you can only markout drinks for the amount breaks you have, but that usually winds up being the case anyways. my specific manager is an SM trainer tho and she’s said to me that starbucks wants us to try the menu and be familiar with the beverages so they dont really care how many we mark out for ourselves as long as we aren’t doing so with the intent to give them out to others or bring them home.

also, due to covid, until march 28th you can get one free drink and one free food on the days you are not scheduled to work.

At our corporate store, it’s one food item and however many free drinks you want from thirty minutes before your shift to thirty minutes after. (I think the people reporting in with smaller numbers may have stores that implemented their own policy based on the fact that you’re not supposed to have drinks on the floor? So by that standard, the only times you could get drinks and consume them would be before shift, after shift, and during breaks.) Through March, you can also get one free drink and one free food item per day when you’re not working. And one free weekly markout of coffee beans or things like the via instants.

Depends on the shift, this is why I like closing cause he does not care one bit about marking out our drinks lol

It does not apply to food, you only get one of those per shift unfortunately, and really the drink thing seems to vary store by store. My store you can mark out as many drinks as you want to drink while you’re working, as long as it’s not like taking 6 home at the end of your shift lol. But other stores are very strict about one before, one during your break, and one after.

It’s 2 food items a day at my store. 1 when you’re not working. Due to covid.
Markout works when you do them on different transactions

It will always work on separate transactions, but it was clarified in a weekly update you’re still only entitled to the 1 food mark out if you work that day not the two. And eventually, if you keep abusing it, you all will get red flagged for excessive markouts.

oh no scary!😂😂😂

The system red flags you after a while? Have you ever seen that actually happen to someone, and if so were there consequences outside of “stop it”?

So usually (in non-covid times) you can have 1 drink and 1 food per shift, and you can’t have them unless you are working that day. Right now, however, you can have 1 drink and 1 food per day due to covid, even if you aren’t working. Also you get 1 bag of coffee beans per week, but you can’t get the Reserve roasts with your mark out. Everything outside of this you get 30% discount.
