Mobile order rant (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by hannahanjuna
Do you guys feel like there should be a limit on the amount of mobile order drinks come in? I don’t know how they could do that or prevent it or at least let them know there’s a longer wait but today we got a mobile order of 60 drinks, all customizable. We only have one blender, one tea shaker, it was a MESS, end rant
TemplarSensei7 37 points 2y ago
Wow, 60...

That’s **waaay** too much....

I am sorry that you have to deal with such an entitled idiot for it. If anything, they should have notified you guys like maybe a day before like for the big box/jug of coffee (forgot what they were, it’s been nearly three years since I left).

We suggested travelers for all the pikes she ordered she said her work said no travelers due to covid. To be honest I don’t know what different a traveler makes as opposed to drinks, I actually think less people touch a traveler?
TemplarSensei7 8 points 2y ago
Aren’t Karens such fun folks?
SpookyDaBaby 4 points 2y ago
A traveler?
TemplarSensei7 4 points 2y ago
Yes! Now, I remember.
NervosaNervous 20 points 2y ago
Absolutely. I also think there needs to be a limit on how many mobile orders can be taken per hour and that mobile orders should be turned off at least one hour before close. There needs to be a lot done to the app, honestly. Like it needs to update in real time.

at my store mobile order is done a half hour before. I dont think its that bad
NervosaNervous 1 points 2y ago
To me an hour makes more sense. Gives people enough of a cushion to come get their order before the store closes.
TrainingExtension585 13 points 2y ago
There should be a wait or a cooldown system in place that gives a customer a wait time before they can order due to backup... Though I'm sure starbucks doesn't pay programmers much for the system already in place
Michigoose99 3 points 2y ago
This would be easy to implement but it would cost the company money. So they're choosing profits over the safety and experience of partners and customers.
beeeeefsquatch 2 points 2y ago
Starbucks is really good at saying they’re taking good care of partners without taking good care of their partners in the ways that matter, like in the workplace. They’d rather make you have to take sick pay for a workplace injury or burnout than pay a little extra to make the work more functional for their partners
hannahanjuna [OP] 1 points 2y ago
This is a genius idea
stfuari 13 points 2y ago
i know this whole feeling, on christmas someone ordered 60+ drinks through mobile order, all different and all cold bar drinks. they also ordered 30+ food items too, also different things. we had to shut down cafe and all mobiles and delivery, only had drive through
hannahanjuna [OP] 6 points 2y ago
Was that your post the other day on here? I was telling my partners about it, my hats off to you, that must’ve been hell, I appreciate your hard work from partner to partner ☺️
stfuari 2 points 2y ago
oh no i haven’t posted about it, i should have tho lol. but yeah it was horrible, but thank you for the appreciation ❤️
anissaf2000 1 points 2y ago
Damn my store had to do that on Christmas too. That’s crazy
BeardiesRule112 11 points 2y ago
Yep there should be a limit to drinks and mods to one drink. People are disgusting.
FelicityCecilia 11 points 2y ago
They better have left a BIG tip. Otherwise throw a frappucino in their backseat.
hannahanjuna [OP] 11 points 2y ago
0.00 😑
FelicityCecilia 3 points 2y ago
Hey guess what, they are f*cking assholes.

This makes me so mad

we absolutely need a limit on mobiles. my store doesn't have a drive thru and is pretty mobile heavy, and wait times regularly get to 15-20 minutes during weekday morning, and can be upwards of 30 on weekends. i'll have my two fastest partners on the espresso machines, plus someone on cold bar if i have the staff for it. (we can do a second cold bar if desperately needed, but it's already pretty tight down there with 3 bar people + handoff). my managers are talking about implementing new ideas to fix the wait times, and like, what? what else am i supposed to be doing? how can i avoid a 10+ minute wait when there's 30 mobile orders, at least half of which are multiple drinks?

either limit it to a certain number of orders or items, or give a short grace period where orders can't be placed.

or at the VERY least make the wait times accurate. i swear they'll never list more than ten minutes. we tap off drinks when they're done, giving an approximate wait time. if i don't tap off a drink until after 20 minutes, there's a 20 minute wait. tell them that. if customers complain, cool then maybe you'll finally know and fix it.

either

That’s exactly how my store is to a T. Heavy mobile orders, no drive through. I’m in San Diego and we’re near a ton of businesses and hospitals. I feel bad for the people that have to wait so long but unfortunately due to our system there’s nothing we can do about it
snowflakenecklace 5 points 2y ago
i've stopped feeling bad about it because there's nothing i can do. every shift exhausts me, my coworkers are exhausted bc we're cranking out drinks literally as fast as we can, all while the customers that can SEE how fast we're working complain because they're drinks are taking too long no matter how many times i tell them i literally have no control over this.
hannahanjuna [OP] 4 points 2y ago
That is true! Working here gives you a strong backbone for sure. It’s also not our fault the mobile ordering app doesn’t give them a timeline of when it will be ready
Kyde_Drakes 8 points 2y ago
Reminds me of the day we had someone order a delivery of over $150 worth of food and drinks. There definitely needs to be a limit on these types of things.
hannahanjuna [OP] 3 points 2y ago
YIKES, I think this women’s order totaled to about the same too
Kyde_Drakes 4 points 2y ago
My biggest pet peeve with mobile orders is when they show up 3 seconds after hitting send, or insisting they ordered it hot/iced/bigger/smaller and you have to show them that the mistake is actually their own mistake and not yours.

I wholeheartedly agree lol
Waggles0421 3 points 2y ago
That's way too many wtf!!! For a second I thought you meant like, in general the orders that come in. There were 60 on one order???!
hannahanjuna [OP] 4 points 2y ago
First was 15..then another 15...then another 15....then another 15 plus an extra 3 🙄
Waggles0421 2 points 2y ago
Oh my- what the actual hell?! Why would someone even order that many Jesus
hannahanjuna [OP] 3 points 2y ago
It was for a hospital, which hey, they have a hard job going on right now and I’m very empathetic towards that. But the delivery of how she ordered them was so wrong lol
Waggles0421 2 points 2y ago
Oh wow! That's totally understandable then, yeah! But they totally should've called ahead of time so you'd be a little more prepared
masterbuttpirate 1 points 2y ago
Create time slot order detail or whatever... but the base will probs be sixty now that ya done it...
