Just before they hatch, they ingest the yolk, so it's like they're eating baby food? Feeding them eggs isn't as weird as feeding them chicken, which they'll eat too (I won't do that, I'm not an animal). To be frank, they'll eat anything, I've experienced mice and a snake, very barbaric!

I mean the eggs are just chicken periods, gross but unethical, maybe not LOL.
sydsal35 points2y ago
I love leahs chickens
alliemoose27 points2y ago
Omg I have chickens too and I might have to see if my coworkers will let me do this 😂 this is so cute!
fuxkyachickenstrips [OP]18 points2y ago
Why not! It’s “expired” food! Yay for happy and healthy chickens!
alliemoose15 points2y ago
True! Also just realized your username is a little horrifying for this situation lmaooo
CreekNotCrick5 points2y ago
I love the sounds they make when they're chowing down on a special snack! Like a unison chicken purr. They love warm grits in the winter!!
drinkliquidclocks21 points2y ago
So... Chickens can eat anything? Serious question haha this is cute!
fuxkyachickenstrips [OP]31 points2y ago
Yeah, pretty much lmao they’re like little garbage disposals running around.
LordDanOfTheNoobs7 points2y ago
Yes, except for some odd specific things
CreekNotCrick6 points2y ago
No chocolate, nightshade is poison (tomatoes), so they can eat tomatoes, just not the plant which is toxic to them and they know it and stay away. No green potatoes. No avacado, citrus kills egg production, no moldy food.
They eat oyster shell for calcium and ground granite stone for their crop health (they don't have teeth, the stones help break down the food in the crop before it can be digested).
spoopy_ruby20 points2y ago
I’m surprised you were allowed to take the food home 😳 when I worked at Starbucks the vibe was like they were gonna fire us if we even thought about thinking about taking the food
fuxkyachickenstrips [OP]11 points2y ago
Well it’s “expired” so they don’t care lol
thrashnsass15 points2y ago
Yep, still a problem for many stores. The thought is, because shifts have the ability to change the amount they pull, they also control the amount of expired "waste" to an extent. Our store donates ours to a local food bank/soup kitchen.
fuxkyachickenstrips [OP]12 points2y ago
Yes! We also donate everything else besides the food that’s been in the pastry case! Because it was cooked and sits for 2 days, we pitch the case food.
thrashnsass2 points2y ago
That makes sense!
different_as_can_be3 points2y ago
partners that close get dibs on food we want, especially bc we’ve had partners in bad situations. then the rest gets donated, which is still a lot of food.
dictatorenergy5 points2y ago
Stealing expired food at my location is a fireable, non-rehireable offence. I’ve always wanted to take the sandwiches downtown for the homeless and they literally won’t let me do it. So frustrating to watch all that food get thrown out. At least you were able to get some use out of it
Trumps_left_bawsack3 points2y ago
Still not really allowed to do that. Which is quite annoying cause we can't donate the food either because of some rules in the UK
jdsalingersdog7 points2y ago
Do Leah’s chickens eat bacon...? Curious.
fuxkyachickenstrips [OP]14 points2y ago
Hahaha yes! One pulled the bacon off the sandwich and went running and the rest of them were after her. Looked like a giant worm hanging off of her beak.lol
jdsalingersdog5 points2y ago
How cheeky of Leah’s chickens. :D
CreekNotCrick2 points2y ago
I love when they're chicks and scared of everything, and they huddle together and watch from a distance. Then they push one out from the group to investigate. If the outcome is favorable, they swarm the chosen one!
fuxkyachickenstrips [OP]1 points2y ago
So intertwining lol they all have personalities which is fun to discover.
Digitalwitness236 points2y ago
Damn if anyone had done this at my store, they’d have been fired instantly
fuxkyachickenstrips [OP]9 points2y ago
That sucks that they’d fire you for taking food that’s getting thrown away anyway. What a shame.
marilynmansonsbitch5 points2y ago
*banging fists on desk* MORE!! CHICKENS!! MORE!! CHICKENS!! MORE!! CHICKENS!!
nouveaberry5 points2y ago
Love this 👏🏽
fuxkyachickenstrips [OP]4 points2y ago
Thank you!
kmoonster4 points2y ago
I agree throwing away food is a bad thing. That said, if this is the bulk of their diets I would seriously suggest talking to an avian vet first. This much additives, refined sugars, and saturated fats are probably not good for them.
fuxkyachickenstrips [OP]3 points2y ago
It’s not, don’t worry!
kmoonster2 points2y ago
ok good!
jdsalingersdog3 points2y ago
I love Leah’s chickens!!
slamy4202 points2y ago
Mfs in chat really dont know what chickens eat
Yall know they eat rats sometimes right lol
thecuriouslittleben2 points2y ago
That is absolutely adorable. Out of curiosity have you ever fed them a cup of whipped cream? (Can/do chicken eat sbux whipped cream?)
fuxkyachickenstrips [OP]1 points2y ago
I have never but I’m sure they could! They eat just about any and everything! I’ll have to get my dearest, Honey, a chickcup!
potterlyfe1 points2y ago
That’s super cute but I wouldn’t really post about it. I get your thinking that it’s expired food but it is actually theft in the eyes of the company. You may have a cool SM but I’ve seen people get fired for taking home expired food. We had a SM that was cool with it but our DM somehow found out partners were taking home expired food and shit hit the fan real quick at our store. It’s one of those things where you may do it but I wouldn’t advertise it.
