SM showing Covid symptoms, being extremely vague about results, store not shutting down. (self.starbucksbaristas)

Edit : I ended up catching covid from my manager. Wasn't around anyone else who was sick, didn't go anywhere except for work. Cool. Now the store is closed for a week. At least they closed finally.

Manager worked in the store until \~6pm on Monday, felt sick enough today to get tested, then says to us that the store wont be shut down since none of us who worked with him Monday night were exposed since it's been longer than 48 hours between then and him testing positive? All of this info is leaking down the grapevine from concerned shifts who don't know what to make of the situation and have been forced to try to find coverage for his shifts last minute. Is this 48 hour policy rooted in any sort of scientific basis or is it just some bullshit to allow the stores to stay open even though partners have been exposed to someone with covid?

Forty-eight hours is $1.

Your issue here is that your manager was symptomatic on Monday, which should allow you to self-isolate, BUT your manager would have had to self identify their symptoms as possible COVID-19 and not something else. For example, when I got my flu shot this year, they told me if I had symptoms to get a COVID test just to be safe. If I was your manager, I could chalk my symptoms up to the fact that I got a flu shot since the COVID coach only asks you if you’re experiencing any unexplained symptoms.

Now that they have a positive test, they can enforce the 48 hour rule.

Gotcha thank you for the link. His test came back negative but he's still isolating considering his symptoms. We're trying to encourage him to get an additional test in a few days to confirm

Welp, I caught covid from him. Tested positive yesterday, my sense of smell is completely gone.

Anyone who worked with him 48 hours prior to his first symptom should be isolating for ten days. Several people at my store, including myself, have gotten Covid. It used to be 14 days now it’s ten.

Our entire morning block, except me, was exposed to a partner that tested positive for covid. So I am required to take two days off, then I’m joining the PM block for the next ten days. We got reduced hours 8am-3pm. But no store shut down.
