Does anyone else just really, really dislike the tiktok baristas or is it just me? I feel like the baristas who are making tiktok drinks that are a pain in the ass to make go viral have an army of followers that say things like “tHeY jUsT dOnT wAnT tO dO tHeIr jOb” in the comments. It’s not that I “don’t want to do my job” it’s that making 837473828 cold foam drinks and blended refreshers/glorified frappuccinos is frustrating when the majority of us have SMs behind us chanting “FASTER TIMES!! BE FAST!!” while we’re on bar during peak. When we’re slow I think making the tiktok drinks can be fun, as long as you’re nice about it. And I don’t “hate” when customers order them either, sure I dread making them in the moment, but it’s literally my job to make what you want within reason.
I’m just really tired of the Starbucks baristas on tiktok who have really shitty attitudes with followers that have even shittier attitudes. (“Why work at Starbucks if you hate it so much” because of YOU, Becky) Like, we get it, you would probably be willing to die for the company. But not all of want to make iced white mochas with extra caramel drizzle and VSC cold foam during peak. Every day.
This being said I will actually get mildly irritated if you order a “medicine ball” or any hot tea/hot tea latte (not the chai latte tho, it’s a godsend for its simplicity) or literally just any drink that requires me to step away from the bar for longer than a few seconds.
Edited to add; The baristas on tiktok who are super cool and chill, I love them. I mean the ones who act like you have to make every cold foam drink with a smile on your face or else you should “get a new job” since you clearly hate it so much

I loved making fraps when I was on cold bar and would request Happy Hour shifts. But god damn, those and medicine balls killed my times when I was on Bar 1 with no cold bar.

I care less about the random ass drinks and more about their “hacks”. Like that guy who said you can order a trenta cup of cold foam and it only cost $1. Or the people who do the cup of water with 1 scoop of all the berries and say it only costa $1.80.
And then when baristas will go in the comments and be like, hey not all of us can do this, they’ll be like, “Well I work at a Tarbucks so I can do whatever I want.” Okay, that’s fine, but put that disclaimer in your video so I don’t get 17 year olds yelling at me when I charge them for a custom iced tea.

Saw a video the other day where this guy was like ‘cheap white mocha!’ And then did an iced triple espresso w/ extra 2%, extra cream, & extra heavy cream, light ice, like 2 pumps of wm, and extra whip in a venti cup. Like, 1, if you order that at my store, we probably won’t end up filling the cup to the top and you’ll be mad, and 2, our venti white mochas come with six pumps and two percent, so it’s not gonna taste the same and you’ll be mad. If you want a specific drink, you’re gonna have to just order that drink! Please don’t do a ‘hack’ and get upset when it ‘doesn’t taste right’

Ring in water with berries as a custom iced tea, no tea, no lcs, add berries. Ends up actually costing money, follows our standards, and discourages people from ordering it most of the time because its not really worth it.

admittedly, I say “no” in my head or under my breath anytime I hear someone ask for a crazy custom drink or a tiktok drink.. because it gets so repetitive. the foam isn’t even that good to drink.
regular hot teas don’t bother me that much. i just don’t like when I have to walk away and someone takes over where I was planted 😂

oh man, someone finishing any drinks i was working on is such a let peeve 😩 i know they’re just trying to help but it throws me off my groove completely. unless i’m making a medicine ball, they’re welcome to take over on that anytime. at least let me know beforehand so i’m not looking like an idiot like “i know i didn’t lose an entire mocha what the fuck WHERE IS IT”

especially during peak 🥲 omg DTW is asking for it and I’m like “I started it, but I didn’t finish it so I’m not responsible!” I usually walk back up and stand there awkwardly until they back off so I can finish

I dislike the tiktok drinks because the people in the videos will say the price is $x and all the customers expect that to be the same price EVERYWHERE, forgetting that taxes and states are different from eachother, hell even different cities have different prices and they get so mad about it, or because 1 person got a full drink, they all expect their ice dopio with 3 “extra” milks to be an entire full drink.

thisss. people always come through with “hacks” to get a latte for cheaper by doing doppio shots and asking for extra milk and ice. and when they get a half-full cup they’re like “uh isn’t this supposed to be full? i asked for EXTRA milk, stupid” and get pissy when we slap the “oh if you want more milk i’ll be happy to charge you for a latte instead next time!” on them.

I had a lady get mad at us because we didn't know the recipe to a tik tok drink. I forget what she said it was called but we told her tik tok drinks and secret menus drinks are all just made up, but if she knew the recipe we would gladly make it. She says she doesn't know it and then proceeds tell her daughter to get something else because we don't know our own recipes. Then she asks for another tik tok drink 🙂.
