Fake names (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Gentleben1978
Does anyone ever get the feeling people are giving you fake names or unusual names when ordering?

Some guy came in and said his name was Taylor Swift but I’m honestly not complaining saying “I have a vanilla latte for Taylor Swift” is hands down the coolest thing I’ve ever said

That’s got to be a customer head Turner in a busy shop when said loud enough .

I personally love it when people put their mobile order name as BLACK LIVES MATTER and I scream it out over and over. Once I called out (accidentally?) MAKE AMERICA GAY AGAIN When they told me their name was that other phrase you see on red hats. We get a lot of those or they use the name of the Orange Racist-in-Chief . Usually I ignore the stupid name and call out the drink, if they haven’t stormed out because we enforce our mask policy.

This is priceless. Nothing more empowering than changing that stupid slogan to something more accepting.

My friend and I do this at chipotle because you type the names in on online order then they print it out and slap it on the burrito, just dumb stuff like shrek or naruto. Not bold enough to try it at Starbucks tho lol
meloscav 2 points 2y ago
I would cry tears of joy if someone told me their name was naruto or shrek tbh. It would make my day
Gentleben1978 [OP] 2 points 2y ago
Why? In case someone dares challenge your name?
katkaturian 9 points 2y ago
My general presence is dumb enough without introducing myself as shrek lol

Gentleben1978 [OP] 4 points 2y ago
Lol. I’ve recently had ‘Thackeray’ and ‘Ocean’
[deleted] 3 points 2y ago
Those are real names though? They’re not common, but there are people really named “Thackeray” and “Ocean”.
kasspants21 1 points 2y ago
No joke I know a woman named Ocean
meloscav 2 points 2y ago
Omg my store had a “big daddy” a month ago

I definitely don’t like putting my real name on my mobile orders. I dunno why. Maybe it’s just the lifelong RPG gamer in me who always wants to go by an alias. I always use my D&D character names. Sometimes Visca gets hungry for a bagel and cold brew 🤷🏼‍♀️

Search up “Carl Barron Starbucks” it’s the funnest joke from one of his shows about exactly this

I once had someone dressed up as Link (don't know why) come to my till and so I just put their name as Link!

One time last month though I had someone with the name Everret come to my till and for the life of me, I couldn't hear their name through their mask and the glass. After 5 tries I just asked them to write their name down on a peice of paper since I didn't want to get it wrong.

I wish after we wrote their names it would come up on the display on the customer's side so they could tell us if we got it right. I would help so much.

We have a mobile order regular who puts their name as “big papi” and I literally NEVER call it out
I physically refuse
Gentleben1978 [OP] 2 points 2y ago
Are they big?
cat-jpeg 2 points 2y ago
I have no clue!!!

They definitley work somewhere and send their little henchmen to get their order

It’s usually around 4 drinks and the guy that comes is always so embarrassed
Gentleben1978 [OP] 2 points 2y ago
You should hand the order and say - this is for little papi
