i hate being micromanaged. im working at a different store because mine is closed, and the shift today got on my nerves. correcting me over minor stuff right in front of customers just drives me crazy because at my store we really just help each other out and dont make comments about it. anyways if you’re a shift working with borrowed partners i think you should be understanding that they dont know the lay out of your store, where you keep things, etc. they will fumble for things and ask for help and you really dont need to call them out on it on the floor bc its a temporary situation, you’re not training someone who has to stay at your store permanently. thats just my micro rant......

i hate being micromanaged too. my SM is horrible about micromanaging, and it really ruins my mood at work because i feel like i have to be perfect and move at the speed of light or else i’ll get scolded. it’s so frustrating

right like sorry but we’re working together towards a common goal: get the customers what they want and peace out. you bitching at me about my specific methods of getting there is unproductive and wastes even more time and when im in a bad mood im even more unmotivated to bust my ass for you

THIS. it also doesn’t help that she busts a vein over DT times, but prioritizes mobile/cafe orders and will shove a stack of cups in my hands and tell me to make them before the DT orders...and then yells at me for not prioritizing DT. like what do you want ???

Hell yeah when our SM hops on the floor to “help out” and get us out of the red for drive it usually messes everything up because he himself can’t actually keep up with the pace. He micromanages to the point that baristas don’t want to be on the floor with him.

Praise in public, criticize in private. If your manager doesn’t know that basic principle, they shouldn’t be managing anything more complex than a soap dish.

I hate micro managing too. But my manager and I are going to have a sit down to give myself a focus in the store. If someone were to coach you say on routines/customer connections, continually, how would you like it to be coached? I’m looking for creative ideas like games to help you all not feel micro managed and want to make drinks the right way/want to connect with customers, and not get frustrated when I coach to standard. Any input helps!

For me it’s all about tone of voice. I appreciate when someone refocuses me or corrects me so long as they do it in a calm, caring voice. If they do it in an angry or condescending voice it makes me wanna punch them which then makes me shut down mentally

Biggest problem I have is that no one tries to do it like that. It's always handled in the most condescending way possible. It just leaves me feeling worthless. The attitude of managers and barristas is gonna be the death of this company.

Yep! That’s the reason why I’m currently on loa

I worked at another store today and hated it. The store I covered operates nothing like my home store.
