i think the intention was so customers cant ask for refills/refunds for drinks that weren't purchased there, but a side effect might be trying to stop baristas from shaming customers LOL

HAHA NO I WISH. We have a barista code that we never change off the locks. So everyday the customer code is deleted and new one is made up, but to make it easy in baristas to use the bathroom we just have a set code we don’t tell customers

We dont really technically have a partner only bathroom... we just only give out the code for one to customers, and we stick to using the other one. The general public is disgusting in my stores town 😒

I think you’re thinking about our partner number not the store number. I have my store number located in the back office. I think In the back there’s a sign that has the store phone number, address, and store number. We all have our own individual partner numbers to clock in and out. There is also a set pin that we decide on. The receipt use to show the partner numbers of the partner assigned to the till. Luckily Starbucks got smart enough to remove that because people were taking the employee partner numbers to get free drinks. Then the partner would get in trouble because it looks like you’re sharing your partner numbers which is prohibited.

We’ve had that happen several times and it’s the only reason I know how to write cups and label bags on warming. My store’s also a drive thru so it was utter mayhem when it happened

i started at starbs RIGHT before we stopped writing on the cups. it's a beautiful lost art. sometimes i would do it anyway just for fun. although, i got drinks at a Target starbs yesterday and they mark the cups there!!! props to them

We mainly use them to date syrups, backups, and other stuff as well as mark orders or pull sheets. Also good for letting a mobile customer know when something is out to make sure they come to us for an exchange/refund. Or to write notes of encouragement to nice regulars and partners who come on their off days

I was just hired on by a corporate store, but back in 2015 I worked for a licensed store where we ONLY wrote cups and didn't have the label printers. Can y'all still handwrite cups?

we had a day where our printers didn’t work and we had to write cups. one veteran barista explained how to the rest of us and we mostly guessed and if the bar person couldn’t tell we yelled what we wanted to convey across the store 😂

we had a day like this and i was a month old green bean; it was one of the most stressful days of my bucks career so far!!! thankfully the registers show you want to write more or less, but i was soooo anxious about it and my handwriting blows so they had to keep asking me anyways.

I think what this post is saying is if you post a pic of a cup with a sticker that has a store # on it they will take it down so YOU don’t get in trouble, because it will be able to be tracked back to you & your store.

Sort of.

Worst case scenario, it can be used to look up your store address, and then find more information about you. Absolute worst case scenario, it can lead to a stalker knowing where you work, an angry user calling your SM to make a fake complaint about the store/you, or someone calling corporate to make a fake complaint about your store. It could lead to dangerous situations, or getting fired. Stupid petty stuff, but it's better safe than sorry!

It's also just generally against Reddit's TOS for personal information, and against subreddit rules for personal information!

Your store number reveals the exact store you work at.

For non-employees, this just reveals your location information so it is easier for people to find out where you live. If someone wants to dox your information that gives them an easy way to figure it out.

For employees, this reveals your store and people can call to place fake complaints to attempt to get you fired. Other employees can also look up the full roster of everyone who works at your store to get your personal information as well as all of your coworkers.

Also it's against sitewide terms of service for personal information. Better to be safe than sorry; all posts with store numbers visible are removed as soon as they are seen.
