Newer baristas training the new baristas (???) (self.starbucksbaristas)

Me, along with 4 others were hired in early august. We all are pretty decent at our jobs by now but still learning things along the way. Most of our experienced baristas have left the company except for two or three, but those guys are trainers yet the four of us who have been here since august are training new hires. Is this normal?? I was training someone on DTO today while I did window and it made me so anxious and stressed because not only did I have to worry about DT connections and making sure orders were taken fast and accurate, I also have to teach someone the POS system while keeping times low. DT is one of the most stressful positions for me anyway, and training is something I’ve never been fond of (I was a trainer at my last job) so idk

I barely know how to do my own job let alone teach someone else 😭

This is normal. Starbucks gives 24 hours of official, one-on-one training. After that managers will typically schedule them alongside other partners for additional training. Coaching and correcting are both part of your job description as a barista.
