I ask a lady if she wanted a straw for her cold drink and she goes “no thanks, I’m not a turtle killer” and chuckles at her joke, but then the guy behind her goes “I am though, could I have one?”.
I felt bad for laughing in front of the lady.

Thats hilarious. But like does the tiny straw matter compared to the entire cup and lid you will be throwing away and forgetting entirely about in 30 minutes...

I always say something similar. My store is in a county where plastic straws, and similar byproducts (like the stoppers and disposable flatware) are banned for consumer use.
We have... Dots. And paper straws.
'Can I get a straw?'
'I apologize we only have paper straws'
'yeah that's fine I guess, can I also get a stopper'
'um, yeah no I'm sorry again. Those are banned in this county. You can thank the sea turtles, but I have this little sticker tho...'
