The SCAP is AMAZING! Literally the only reason why I put up with the bs 🙃
Anyways... you need to work for three months before the reimbursement kicks in. I applied to every store within a 20 miles radius and then went in before the manager called me back because I didn’t want to pay for my first semester. LOL.
Students need to apply for financial aid, whether they qualify or not. ASU will give you a scholarship up front for 42% and students need to pay for the reminding 58% with loans or etc. At the end of the semester, you get reimbursed the 58% as long as you get a C or better (assuming you still work for the company). The money Is deposited into your paycheck and then you can pay back or loans etc.
You can choose any of ASUs online major, does not have to relate to Starbucks and once you graduate you can leave the company. Also, the degree just says ASU, no ASU Online bs or anything like that so basically employers cant tell you studied online unless you tell them. I honestly love this because it feels like I am getting more value and honestly makes it that much more worth it.
You need to work an average of 20 hrs/week to maintain eligibility. Eligibility comes with other perks like health insurance, free Spotify, free food/drinks when you work, etc.
My experience with ASU has honestly been super great. The classes are sweet! The online format makes it super easy to work. I recommend only working 20 hours so you can take a full course load and gtfo! Lol. I did study abroad so that was nice too. I’m honestly super looking forward to being done so I can start my masters. SCAP is great but retail suckkkks! Just remember what you’re doing it for, this semester alone I’m taking 4 science with labs (16 credits) - $10,000 😅 SUPERGRATEFUL🙏
Also, since you mentioned transitioning HS students... there’s some kind of bridge program for kids who might be struggling grade-wise. I’m not sure what it’s called, but it’s meant to help kids and provide extra academic support or something. Or maybe like it works with them if they have a low GPA.
***btw, I just re-read your question lol. It’s online only. Even if you lived in Tempe, so that’s something to consider but once you get into it it’s easy to get the hang of it. The classes are pretty much structured the same. 7-weeks, 7 module. Every week it’s assigned reading, discussion post, paper, test. Something along those lines. Science with labs are a bit tricker but usually you don’t take those your first semester so you pretty much have the hang of it once you get to those classes.
