Dealing with rude customers? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by spicymink
So I’m very new to Starbucks and I just started working here 2 weeks ago. I love the job itself and do really good in fast paced environments but I’m having such a hard time dealing with the customers! I don’t know if it’s just the area that I live in that has such pretentious people, but every shift that I work there’s always at least one customer that’s an absolute ass, and often times theres a lot more than just one. Especially if I don’t immediately know something on the menu and have to ask another partner, they get super closed off towards me and act like I’m an idiot for being new. I’m starting to think that this type of behavior from customers just comes with the territory (due to horror stories from other partners) but I want to know how does everyone deal with it??

Here’s my honest thoughts it’s food service you will get assholes. I have enough experience to put a very stern voice tone where if they come off rude or try to take advantage of me I won’t any give. When I first started I always informed the customer hello welcome, my name is x and inform them I’m new. And they will always be nicer to me and much more helpful

I couldn’t get through without venting with my partners and making hilarious jokes about customers, the dirtier the jokes the better haha. Give it a go, laughter is the best medicine after all.
