Promoted myself to customer! (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by thrashnsass
I’ve been with Starbucks since August and yesterday was my last day! Starbucks became my second home as I worked through an abrupt, major career change in the middle of this chaotic pandemic. As much as I love to bitch about it, it really was a good job that helped me get through a really rough time. Appreciate your fellow partners, I am sad that I won’t be seeing mine as frequently.

“Good job”???

hi corporate!

Nope! I promise. I was an elementary school teacher that quit because my school took as few precautions as possible to protect their teachers. Was already considering leaving the teaching profession so I took that as my exit. Starbucks had better protections for coworkers than other places I looked into and I got hired. I got extremely lucky to have an amazing manager and partners at my store. Things were by no means perfect, and it’ll always be fast food, but all things considered it was a “good job”.

Lol “tell me you work at a cafe only store without telling me you work at a cafe only store”

this 😂 i did 4 hour training at a high volume cafe-only store DURING PEAK, and yet it doesn’t even begin to compare to a slow day at my home store with a drive thru

Will I work there again or will I go as a customer?

If I find myself with the need to return to a part time job, I would consider it! There are other companies I’ve worked for that I absolutely wouldn’t, but if the conditions were just right I’d consider being a barista again!

As far as being a customer of that store, I’ll go to see my work family! It’s not my most convenient store, but I’m honestly not a diehard Starbucks drinker so I wouldn’t be going much either way and I’ll make the slightly longer trip.
