I’m so frustrated with this company... (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by 420catloveredm
My manager was working with me towards a promotion and I assume for an edict for the DM and apparently is no longer able to promote internally even though the district has a shortage of supervisors... then she told me that I was able to apply to supervisor positions at other store online which isn’t correct. It blocks supervisor positions to current partners... I work really hard only to see my hours getting cut because of covid. And i spent two years supervising volunteers building houses which is way more high stakes than supervising people making lattes. Basically, I’m pretty ready to start looking for jobs elsewhere. If there’s no opportunity for a barista with 3 years of supervisor experience to promote and my hours are getting cut to below what’s required to maintain health insurance, then there’s just not much incentive for me to continue to be here....

You can do it. Start job hunting now. And remember 2 weeks notice is just a courtesy not a requirement.

I get your frustration-the same thing happened to me

this should be pinned at the top of all SB subs

CORPORATE DOESNT CARE ABOUT YOU. MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, PROMOTIONS ARE A MANIPULATIVE WAY TO KEEP PEOPLE FROM LEAVING, NOT TO REWARD GOOD BEHAVIOR. STORE MANAGERS ARE OVERWORKED AND UNDERPAID BUT OFTEN FIND THE POWER GRAB ASPECT OF THE JOB THE ONKY REASON TO STAY.

EVERY SINGLE BARISTAS HAS A CHOICE- QUIT AND FIND SOMETHING BETTER (not in that order) OR ACCEPT TAHT YOU WILL NEVER GET THE RESPECT OR PAY YOU DESERVE. (In fact SMs are counting on you to give up and take the abuse)

Yeahhhhhh. I’m pretty done. Transferring won’t fix corporate.

I know that applying online to SSV positions is a new roll out but I don’t think it’s launched yet. My SM told me about it, and she also just promoted a barista in our store to SSV after just one interview.
