Not like anything will change, but it always feels nice to tell it like it is on partner pulses (i.redd.it)

You can apply this to literally any big business but im glad someone put it out there.

Yeeeaaaah. That shit is a big part of the reason why I’m leaving. As soon as they announced they’re cutting labor and then my DM said our store is extending our hours beyond what they even were *pre*-COVID, I was like fuck that

I couldn’t agree with this more.
There aren’t a lot of drive throughs where I am (about ten percent of the cafes around me are drive through) but I do wonder if going to mobile order is at least better. Some stores should just close.

Americans in general are going about like there’s nothing to be worried about. I wish Starbucks was doing more.

If it helps, I always do a mobile order and tip about $20/week. I know it’s not much split up like that but I hope it’s something.

I’m about to pay $140 for a Covid test tomorrow, because someone I work with tested positive. Starbucks SHOULD pay for the test because I was exposed at work and I’m required to have it in order to go back. They won’t, but they should.

Tell the testing facility that it's work related, and it should go under a workman's compensation claim.

Thanks

Why do you need the test? I’m curious. Do you need it to go back to work? Do they know it might not be accurate in the first few days of exposure?

My manager told me I needed it, and if the COVID positive person is the person who isn’t scheduled to come back with the rest of us exposure was about 2 weeks ago

Let me put it this way: I had to have surgery and pay for it to get medical clearance at my job. But I am not making Starbucks wages either.
I think they should either pay for the test or pay you to quarantine. Period.

I totally agree with you. I’m lucky to work in a store and with a manager who talks to us incessantly about what we need and how we feel. As soon as we hit a second block isolation our store manager said no more cafe and went to bat for us with our district manager. We’re still experiencing block isolations-I was just sent on my second isolation this month as it is.

I'm type 2 diabetic, live with my parents and siblings (2 w/ asthma), and have been put in isolation 4 times in 2020 (twice within 4 weeks) and I work as a SS in one of the busiest stores in my district. I also have open availability, so I work pretty much all day parts except opening (avg. 30hrs/week.) I worked while during 3 block isolations, alternating with my own. Also, each time I was in, most of the stores in my area shut down, sending ALL their customers to us. Also, I'm out of Covid pay hours now, so next isolation, I'm not getting paid. Starbucks really needs to sort out their priorities.

I was lucky enough to get out of Starbucks before COVID hit, hopefully things do get better for you soon. Starbucks needs to figure their shit out and start treating baristas like humans who live in a real world.

I was in the same boat saying we should close until it's safe to open. Corporate one upped me and just closed my store forever laying off 90% of the partners.
ravedeath972 2 points 2y ago
If my store closes, I’m fucked. I understand and sympathize but I need this money to survive, and I know damn well Starbucks wouldn’t be offering another short paid leave to people.

Transcription in case anyone wants to use it. I know I will be in my next pulse:

Pay increase or not, the US just hit 2 million covid cases and we're going to work like it's nothing. Partners have gotten/are getting sick because starbucks is more worried about money than the safety of its employees. CLOSE CAFES. CANCEL ANY PROMOTIONAL DAYS. GO TO DRIVE THRU ONLY. Stores are still just getting busier and when there are 20 people in the cafe, how are we supposed to mandate masks/social distancing??? We CANT. We cannot, as partners, social distance. Unless Starbucks is planning on giving stores twice as much labor, there is no way to effectively run a store while practicing social distancing. We can't handle weekends where we're wrapped around the building for eight hours straight while only four partners are scheduled because that's all labor allows. Starbucks has had numerous chances to make things right, tighten up policies, and prove partners are more important than money, but every day, it's just proved that this is just a greedy company after all.
