I just finished the interview and got hired on the spot. I'm so excited! Can't wait to get my green apron lol.

Hey, here comes the hard part. That apron has some consequences to putting it on. The experience is amazing, and it feels good sometimes. Just never let anything our customer base or this reddit community says get you down. You’ve got this. Just take it piece by piece. and a lot of us have open DM’s if you have any questions you’re too scared to post. or if you just feel like talking to another barista.
Be safe.

Nah, I was a security guard in Las Vegas casinos for like 5 years. Rude/crazy customers, long lines, hectic days, etc, none of it bothers me. And thank you, I really appreciate that!

oh shit i feel that. I was in the Marines for 4 years, this shit just aggravates my soul and makes me wanna spaz out and be “that crazy fucking marine” half the time. 😂

Congrats! I’m sure you’ll love it! Sometimes this sub can be pretty negative which I worry scares some people off and while their complaints are valid I still love my job a year in and hope for many more. Quick word of advice don’t expect to be a pro straight out of training! It takes a few months to get comfortable here. I see a lot of green beans being too hard on themselves for not getting everything perfect right away when that’s just a normal part of the learning process.
RadicalChiliBean [OP]1 points2y ago
Yeah I realized there's a lot of negativity/bitterness here after I posted lol. Thank you for the encouraging words and the advice! I'm a little worried about being overwhelmed at first, but I know I'll get the hang of it eventually.

Just remember, no matter how awful one customer may be, it’s just coffee. Wish you the best
RadicalChiliBean [OP]2 points2y ago
Hey that's a great piece of advice. "It's just coffee." I'll remember that when the inevitable bad customers come in. Thanks :)

This is by far my favorite covid job. 6 months in and still love my coworkers.

Congratulations! Do your best and good luck on your endeavors
RadicalChiliBean [OP]2 points2y ago
Hey thanks! I appreciate it!

Congrats! It’s a fun job, but it can be hard. I’ve found my fellow baristas as well as shifts to be extremely supportive so definitely don’t be afraid to rely on your coworkers. You’ve got this!
RadicalChiliBean [OP]1 points2y ago
Thank you! I hope they're as supportive as some of the cool people on this sub :)
